Nice. I just cleaned mine with Kerosin (Petroleum in German) works really well but you have to lubricate after that.

Nice one. Kerosene works great. I just started using engine oil because there was always so much around and discovered it worked really well. Saved lots of money over the years. Thanks again for watching!

No kerosene doesn't work. It gets under the O rings and will dissolve the lube inside the rollers.

@@BN1960 That's 100% not true. Almost every owners manual out there literally recommends using kerosene to clean your chain. Then gear oil or lube.... If you sprayed kerosene on that chain, it would literally look like new :)

No problem! Yes they are perfectly fine for o-rings. Kero works great but left over engine oil is pretty much free! Thank you for watching

I got myself a 2006 FZ6, and it has an automatic chain oiler. The small oil container is below the seat.

Nice one those are really good. Is it a Scott oiler? I have heard that the constant oiling can means a lot of it comes off on to the rear wheel. Does this happen or does it work pretty well?

Diesel as chain cleaner it lubes a bit as well

Man, the chain is still dirty as hell. You may use white spirit solvent and quite big paint brush to clean it well. White spirit is good at dissolving old lube and washing off dirt from chain. Next you need to lube not all the chain, but little rubber rings between links with special chain lube.

Thanks Boris appreciate the advice. This is quite an old change that is due for replacing soon. It was never going to get back it’s new sparkle. I also never aim for stripping the chain bare with harsh chemicals of any kind. That tends to accelerate the ware. Ensuring the chain is mechanically clean is always my aim. Thanks again 👍 ride safe

Yes a common solution that works really well. 👍 engine oil is just readily available and almost free.

It was like that when I bought the bike. I got a fantastic deal, the slightly corroded chain was the only problem. However it’s only surface rust, it works perfectly well. But not really been anywhere recently because of lockdown... A mechanically clean chain is what is important, no need for it to sparkle ❇️

@@FabMotorbikesok, but try some degreaser that arent atacking o-rings in chain and silicone base spray to lube and chan can laaaaaast- When im not riding in winter good spray and in spring no corrosion

To clean the chain I still prefer engine oil. It’s works well and is free as I say. And then I usually follow up with gear oil. At some point the main thing is that I’ll need a new chain... But thank for your thoughts, it’s amazing how many different ways there are to look after your chain. So interesting 👍
