I hit the barrel and cylinder with hoppes, and run patches until they come out clean then oil it. if its really skunked out, ill shoot gun scrubber through it before the hoppes

Would cleaning be similar to a rock island m206 .38 special? Just bought one and it’s covered in oil

I bought a Taurus 38 2 inch revolver in 2016, and has been sitting in a holster, never used. Today I looked at it and it has easy to rub off brown rust on the tip of the barrel, and inside the barrel. Do I just oil it inside the barrel and the tip? I also had a bottle of Rem Oil I bought when I got the gun, never used it yet. Any help would be appreciated!! Will the Rem oil take care of this rust as well??
@HowToVideoChannel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, try to rub as much of the rust off as you can with a rag. Then use that REM Oil and clean it up even more.

What about the 6 holes in the cylinder? Do you clean those as well the same way you clean the bore? I'm new to revolvers thats why.
@HowToVideoChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes, spray a little gun oil in there and push a cloth through there. You don't need to use a bristle brush. Only a soft cloth and some oil.

Sort of off the subject but how do Taurus’ perform long term? I’m thinking about getting some non-revolver ones but I’m new to handguns...

Is it safe to cut a little bit off the barrel? It should be right?
@HowToVideoChannel3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t. It would be better to purchase a shorter barreled revolver.

Can you use w2-40 to clean a gun?
@HowToVideoChannel2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t. Gun oil is specifically made for guns and it is inexpensive. Use it.

I’m curious when you said convertible to 357. how?
@HowToVideoChannel2 жыл бұрын
You can load and shoot 38 or 357 rounds.
@jaysonspot89402 жыл бұрын
have you tried shooting 357 on this model 82?
@HowToVideoChannel2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t because I only have the 38 cylinder. Depending on the specs of your firearm the cylinder may be universal. Others you’ll have to swap out.

Stupid question. I’m a beginner but I thought I read or saw oil was NOT to be used in the barrel. Maybe REM is lubricant and oil but just want to make sure I’m doing the barrel right. Apologies again for the question if it is stupid.
@HowToVideoChannel3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had any trouble with using Gun oil in the barrel. However, I know that long barreled guns that using bore oil is better because it has more power to remove the lead deposits. That being said, I don’t think you can’t use regular Gun oil.

is the WD40 safe for cleaning.? cause i watch or read in the other comment and video WD40 will damage the gun..

I would only use gun oil, which is specially made for guns.

Looks like the gun I have but mines regular 38 can't find ammo anywhere. Cannot put 38 special in it it or it will blow up
@HowToVideoChannel6 жыл бұрын
38 ammo has been hard to find lately. If you have a local gun store that is usually the best place. The smaller stores tend to have it for some reason. Otherwise, places like Fleet Farm or Sheels.

That's probably 38 Smith & Wesson, also known as 38 short. It is available but you have to look around for it try ammoseek.com

What about a bore cleaner? You can't clean with an oil.
@HowToVideoChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have a lot of gunk, then bore cleaner is a great option.

Doing just oil in the barrel will not properly clean the barrel. You need something like Hoppes #9. Then finish it off will the oil.
@HowToVideoChannel4 жыл бұрын
Yes, a good bore cleaner. However, if you clean your barrel with oil and a brush after use of your firearm, then the oil will do a great job.
