Really useful, bought a large Series D a week ago and it's been invaluable for doing some terrain pieces. Was unsure how best to clean it, so I used my standard brush soap, but I did not know about leaving it overnight so this tutorial has been informative. A medium and a small are now on their way to me and I'm very much looking forward to using them on my new army.

Great video! I have my series d set coming in next week! You say not to leave brushes vertical but can I leave them upside down with the tip facing down? That way gravity helps with any excess moisture.
@ArtisOpus Жыл бұрын
Thanks :). You absolutely can, you can also clean D very easily as you go with a little moisture from the dampening pad, and texture palette, too, it really cuts down on the need for saturated soaking. Cleaning your drybrush and using it are the same thing, you use a little moisture (a little) and texture (model/texture-palette) to remove paint :)

@@ArtisOpus Thank you so much for all the help and please excuse all the questions. I'm actually getting my series D brushes tomorrow (although I'm waiting on my texture palette still) and I want to take good care of them. How often should I do a thorough cleaning like this? For example, if I go through a painting session (but not complete the project yet), should I go and thoroughly clean my brushes used?

The texture pallet Richard? It can't be cleaned, but a re-priming works great, I actually prefer working on a black primed one, it just doesn't work great on camera.

Thanks for the cleaning video. Have tested my D series today and after a frustrating mess at least I got them clean. Will get some time to get used to them. Still do not have the right feeling about how moist or not it has to be. Stuff looks nice when doing preparing on my wooden board and then on the minis it just looks terrible. Either it does not leave colour at all or it looks flakey and rough... I am still a beginner, but this has been the most terrible painting experience I had in my 6 months ^^ Will have to look if I can find any models I do not care about to learn with these brushes and see tomorrow if I can bring my messed up models back to at least healthy standard with a regular brush over the weekend. Still, don't blame the product, just the guy using them.

I've been painting just for 2-3 months and still using some cheap brushes (now I'm painting with one of those "starter brush" that came in my Primaris Space Marines+ paint set from Citadel. At the moment I can't really afford some good brushes and want to take good care even of that not so good brush so my question is, Are there some cheaper or even "homemade" products I can use instead of that specifically designed brush soap? Something like hand soap or dish soap maybe? Thanks and congrats on another great video as usual.

I have the set and found that paint dries on the bristles and I just can't seem to get it out with the brush soap etc. The brushes are already in very average condition and I've only used them on one small set of terrain, any help would be much appreciated!

We're working on it! In the meantime try using the dampening pad before, during and after the painting process. It adds moisture and helps clean the brush😊

How often do you do this sort of cleaning for the brushes? Everyday? Once a week?

They get cleaned as we paint, using the texture palette and dampening pad between colours. If they are getting heavy use they get a proper clean every couple of weeks.😊

You can rinse it out if you want but we advise leaving it over night to dry and then as per the video flick and break them open over night that will help massively.

Love the video and the little bit about series D and airbrush thinner. But I have to say it feels rushed - you guys cleaned clean brushes :D Like in the joke about shaving machines for women - you wanna impress people, stop shaving shaven legs, shave a gorilla :D Also - would have been cool if you actually waited over-night and showed us how that shape is reformed on series D after you flick it. whats so special about your "game changing" dry brushes? They look like ordinary cosmetics brushes, except those cost a tiny fraction of what you want for your brushes.
@ArtisOpus4 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, they're specifically made for this industry, not for power application, use high quality hair (high quality makeup brushes cost 3x what these do, you have to compare like for like), last forever, and also come with a full set-up for technical use, and safe transport etc. The dampening pad is a large part of achieving high level results, and the case and soap keep them pretty for as long as possible! Like any high quality brush they're an investment, but well worth it.
@Presbiter4 жыл бұрын
@@ArtisOpusi like your m and s series of which I own two of each series and see their price justified, they are good quality. Never the less I dont get why anyone would want to use high quality brushes for drybrushing, I buy for that purpose those cosmetic brush sets from china for around 50ct per brush. Using high quality material for drybrushing is like taking a ferrari on the off road track, simply makes no sense and i highly doubt that with the d series one achievs a better drybrush job than with so cheap china brushes since all the point like if its real hair, if it holds a pointy tip etc simply dont come in play when drybrushing. But thats personal preference. Thanks for the reply. Wish you success with your business venture ;)
