Can you use K&N cleaning products and oil? (Have it laying around that's why I'm wondering)
@BtwilliasGarage5 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not. I would have done the same if I didn't give them to the guy I sold my intake too
@rumrunner8260 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same! I found a K&N cleaning kit in my garage.

I have the red k&n oil and the blue bms intake filter is that okay to use?
@BtwilliasGarage Жыл бұрын
@Aquatic640 yeah it will be fine, just try to clean the blue off well and you will be going to red

How often should we clean it? I have the blue bms intake for my n55 it’s starting to look black 😂
@BtwilliasGarage Жыл бұрын
That depends on how much pollen, dust, dirt etc you deal with and how many miles you drive, but a good rule of thumb is once a year

I have the blue filter can I use the red oil instead of blue. Just a color change after cleaning it?
@BtwilliasGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yeah just clean it real good. Maybe even 2 cycles. The new color will stick

Hey man I washed mine and put them back on fine but my blow off sound is completely gone…. Would you know why??
@BtwilliasGarage10 ай бұрын
This is the first I have heard of this. Make sure you clamped it back on correctly and recheck all hoses near the intake itself

Is it bad to use red k and n oil on a blue spectre air intake
@BtwilliasGarage2 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar enough with Spectre to answer, but if it is a filter that is oiled then it's probably fine. Just let it properly dry
@shad31284 жыл бұрын
Can you just blow it out with a compressor instead of having it sit for that long in the sun? Just curious lol
@BtwilliasGarage4 жыл бұрын
You could, but it would not be as clean. It would be better than nothing. Blow inside to outside if you do!
@davidespinoza13152 жыл бұрын
Instructions from SB specifically states: DO NOT use compressed air, a dryer or other heating devices to try to dry the filter.

Hey man! Could you link the table with the oil quantities? I can't seem to find it on their website. I have the same intake as you, but a friend has an N54 with BMS intake as well, not sure if that would be 33grams on each cone or something different. Thanks! *EDIT* Saw this is ln BMS website not sb. For anyone looking for it just look up SB intakes oil quantity BMS and it'll pop right up.
@BtwilliasGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, glad you found it. Here it is for everyone's convenience Oil quantities for BMS filters: N55 intake filter - 33 grams N54 DCI - each filter - 37 grams on the main filter element and 7 grams on the inverted cone S55 filters - each filter - 26 grams for the main filter and 7 grams on the inverted cone B46/B48/B58 filters - 26 grams for the main filter and 7 grams on the inverted cone F150/Raptor filter - 80 grams

Why did you go with BMS not AFE. I have heard those intake dont give any power.
@BtwilliasGarage5 жыл бұрын
I've hear that too. I may switch it up. That purchase was made way before I knew what I would be doing with this car. Good question
@prevaloir53622 жыл бұрын
For me I got it used for over half off and I can get their catch can for a clean look. Not to mention the sounds worth it IMO.

What's the purpose of re-oiling?
@BtwilliasGarage3 жыл бұрын
The oil helps to capture dirt and grime. It also gives it the nice color (not performance related)

Thanks. I have the same filter in my 435i. Will reoil now. Didn't find the precision kit, but will use another one

How long did you wait to put it back on the car after you oiled it?

How often these should be cleaned?
@BtwilliasGarage2 жыл бұрын
Every 10k or so I believe. Depends on pollen and dust. I normally do it once it loses significant color
@midwestbmw12925 жыл бұрын
Doing this on my E92 and I’m pretty sure in the instructions it states that each tick mark on the applicator bottle equals 2.5 grams. I noticed in your video that you may have put 2.5x the needed amount of oil on your filter.
@BtwilliasGarage5 жыл бұрын
Good call trying to help, that would be bad to put 2.5x over. It would cause restriction and potentially damage maf sensors. The bottle I show 3/4 of the way through is marked by 10 gram measurements. Then the small notches are 2.5gs. Look again and you will see I did it correctly. In the manufacturers video they use 90gs which is about 3x mine. You can watch that here for peace of mind. She mentions about at 3:06 ish. Good luck with the cleaning! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn3anpxtfqhopqc

Btwillia's Garage thanks for the added clarity. My filter is drying in the sun as we type. Just wanna make sure I don’t mess it up. Cheers!
