FINALLY got the intake i've always wanted for my 2015 BMW M235i! The BMS Intake looks and sounds fantastic, and the install was cake. I really don't have any complaints. For those of you wanting to get this intake. Pair it with a tune and intercooler. This is an oiled filter so you might get a code for the MAF. I just used MAF cleaner and cleared the code (using MHD) and all is well again. Love the noise it makes. Performance wise i think it works when you use an intercooler to lower the intake temperature

The car doesn’t need an intake so everyone knows. BMS is good stuff. A good charge pipe and JB4 is really all you need. The intake is only going to help with sound. A Drop in KN will help as well with sound. For the Most part BMWs intakes are pretty rock solid. All your power is tweaking the turbo.

Looking at getting a CAI for my m235 pretty much stuck between Injen and BMS. What’s your experience with it being installed and the check engine light? Has it thrown a cel since being installed and before you got the tune? I’ve heard our cars don’t really play well w oiled filters but I keep seeing mixed answers

The car threw a CEL about 3 days after installing the BMS intake. But as soon as I tuned the car the CEL went away and I have never had any issues with it. So if you plan on going the BMS route, then a proper tune like bm3 should should be paired with the intake. That's just from my experience!

It would be nice to have some box that covers the filter, so it sucks fresh cold air from outside and not the hot air from the engine bay. That is why I like Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Intake System by ECS for the N54 engine. It's quite expensive, but it works. The cheapest option is to use a performance filter instead of paper, pros: cheap and quick, cons: it has a smaller filter area than cone filters; therefore, it is a bit more restrictive. However, IMHO lower intake temperature (air comes from outside) gives you much more than a slightly larger filter area.

thats definitely a great point, so far i havent noticed any significant power drop, the car seems to pull just as hard as with the stock intake, but it sounds much better now. The car still retains the factory snorkel as well which channels cold air straight to the filter

So you bought it from top gear but couldn't buy it from BMS which is in So Cal? Why is bms so lazy not to get a carb sticker for it? Thats kinda my problem with bms they half a** alot of what they sell. No carb sticker thats a possible fail for ca smog and if you get caught "near" 😉 street racing thats another fine on top of your ticket all because bms id too lazy to register their product. Do yourself a favor buy a carb sticker for the bms dci, its like $2 from bms and put it near or on your intake. All the powers that be look for is the sticker they will not take the time to actually research the id number as its only a intake. Enjoy your new intake
