Yeah yeah, you'll hear the JIS people screaming in nearly every video dealing with imports, (you can buy 1/4" hex bits in multipacks with #2 and #3, handy for this stuff), However, your careful approach to fasteners and all the little bits is a huge help to viewers who may not know this stuff. Mini Motor Man, thank you for making this video. I just bought a Honda C90 (1968) to rebuild and enjoy. I am new to bikes, so I have a lot to learn before I can get it up and running (bike has been sitting for years) This video is the best I have seen so far. Do you know how similar your 95' is to my 68'? I am planning to watch this a few more times and use it as a guide if the two carbs are close.

What you need to stop stripping screws is a good JIS screwdriver. These are NOT Phillips type screws, but JIS. They look the same and a Philips screwdriver will generally work, but it will damage the hardware in the long term. Get yourself a nice set of JIS screwdrivers and you will stop damaging those screws.

thank you so much for uploading such a great detailed video. I was restoring an old super cub recently and accidentally lost the carb piston at the garage. the mechanic suggested me to buy a chinese one and i did, but i never really got the same level of performance compared to my old original japanese one. can i just replace the old piston and use the new one on my japanese carburetor and use it?

That was a wonderfully clear and instructive video Mr Mini Motor Man, thank you. My Cub 90 gets bogged down when the throttle is 3/4 or more open. Funny thing is it only seems to happen after about 20 minutes running; the bike goes fine for the first 20 minutes or so and I can get up to 45mph, no problem. The fastest I can go when the issue arises is 30 mph in third; the engine starts spluttering thereafter. The problem also arises in the lower gears, so that the range of any gear is really limited and I have to change up really quickly to get going at all. Do you think this is a carb issue? If I clean it like you've shown here will it remedy the problem? What else could it be-spark plug; points? I tried giving it to a mechanic to have it serviced but they don't want to take on the job. I would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction as I need the bike to commute. Many thanks, Martin.

@@derpsterswag6455 hi there, yes, in the end I found a mechanic who was willing to take a look at it and after a quick ride on it to see what the problem was he diagnosed a faulty IDC unit. That's an electrical part that sends a signal to the spark plug to tell it to ignite. He ordered a new one, replaced it and the bike is going as good as new again. Hope this helps. 🏍👍

@8:19 what is the fiction of that brass bush /jet thingy. How is it interacting with the needle tapper? I removed it from my pz30 carburetor and it got damaged. Not only it but also the seat. So now I installed the replacement one but it's not sitting flat and the needle gets stuck in it. If I try to flatten the seat for that brass I suspect that will also affect the needle depth so have to readjust the position of clip. And idea?

You are correct, you will probably have to adjust the needle height. I am not familiar with the PZ30 specifically, but in terms of most carbys, there is always going to be just a little friction (because needles wear out over time), but nothing big. If you can feel it binding, then there is a problem.

Hey man,.. Great videos! Alot of information. I have a Chinese 110cc Loncin engine. It is a semi auto 3 speed with reverse. It didnt want to shift into third gear, most of the time.... you could force it into gear by high rpm's in second gear, let off the throttle, and instantly shift into third.. So,. We determined the shifting fork was bent. Sure enough, opened the case and pulled the gears. It was bent. While waiting for a replacement, my son thought it needed cleaned. He completely disassembled it, and has no idea how to put it back together. Your video on the transmission was very helpful, but not quite followed our gear configuration. There is no help or diagrams online. Can you help us ?

Hi there, I've never rebuilt one of these motors with a reverse gear, so I'm not sure to be honest, because I thought the Loncin had the same basic 3 speed as the genuine Hondas. 3:58 the carb cleaner should not damage O rings, read the tin, I might be wrong.

Trusting labels in a 3rd world country is a good way to get yourself into a lot of trouble. I speak from experience of having melted the water separator and swelled the bowl gasket.

1:20 screwdriver, if the screw head has a dimppel by the cross, it's a JIS not Phillips or pizidrive... Just so you know.
