Great video! I really like your way of working, careful and precise! I always separate the jet and the barrel part (which you used pliers for) with the right fitting wrench (its a real small size, I think a 6-7 mm). Maybe a little top tip for you, I’m not an expert at all though, just took a part these carbs a few times before.

I have the push-in type pilot jet and not only can i not see through it end to end (side holes are good), but I cant push any wire or even jet cleaners through it no matter what, even after steeping over night and the next day again in carb cleaner. After resorting to heating it with a torch and then trying the jets cleaners again while hot, that didnt work either, eventually when i realised it was for the bin i decided to drill through it with a 0.6mm drill bit to see what would happen and brass filings were coming out. Its like there never was a hole there. Not to mention the blockage was proper solid, like the holes were only drilled 8mm deep in the thin end and 3mm deep on the bowl end. Would love to know what its all about.

Hello. Great video. I have a 2004 Super Cub 50 which has been sitting for over a year. I cleaned out the tank and carb and it was nasty. But it won't start. Fuel is getting to the carb, but apparently not to the spark plug, as it is completely dry. Even the venturi in the carb is dry. The fuel seems to get to the carb fine, and after a few tries on the kickstart, fuel starts to leak out around the petcock area. It seems to be flooding and not getting past the carb. The float bowl operates and everything seems fine, but it obviously isn't. I've had the carb apart a few times and given a good cleaning. But the fuel doesn't get to the spark plug. I checked the manifold and it is dry, so the fuel is not getting past the carb. I can't figure out what is going wrong. Mine is a 2004 model and I notice two wires connected to the top of the carb. What is their purpose? Thanks. Robbie Tokyo

I've got a 2004 Honda Super Cub 'Street' model. Sat for over a year, now won't start. Gas tank might be rusty a bit in there, too. Getting a spark, but with manual cranking, no fuel on plug. Dry. So I'm assuming it's a problem with the carb. Fuel is getting to the carb by the reserve/on/stop switch. Loosened it and fuel came out. Me thinks there's a blockage in the carb.

Hi MMM great vids:) can you tell me which video you made that would also pertain to the rebuild of a sl/xl70 manual?

I need to clean out my 81 c70 carb, i believe the float was stuck as it leaked gas and it l seemed to leak slightly around bowl gasket , should it be replaced?

Hi you say use a good fitting screwdriver, do Honda use Jis or Ph on the Keihin . Thanks Andy

I'm not sure honestly. None of my screwdrivers are labelled because they're Chinese copies, (nothing else available).

You are nearly as mixed up as I am🏍 Do you think a Lifan engine engine would be a reasonable replacement for a Honda cub engine. I am going to rebuild my Honda one but it would be nice to have a spare and something to play with. Thanks Andy

Lifans are hit and miss from what I've seen. My personal Lifan 110 was a total disaster and lunched 3rd gear very quickly, not long after the first headgasket blew. However I've heard of some Lifans doing okay for longevity. It's really a crap shoot honestly, so it's hard to say if they're going to be good or not.

Hi,was that experience with the Lifan recent or a few years ago. Thanks.

I want to say it was a 2016, but it may have been a 2015 model.
