How to clean Brother inkjet printers to fix streaky print and restore nozzle test patterns

Printers can lose print quality by ink drying up or running out (this is why cartridges have to be changed before they're empty).
All printers have a maintenance routine that sucks ink through the head to clean it, but this doesn't always work and it uses up ink.
This method flushes the head with cleaning fluid and works with all models of Brother inkjet printer (except DTG solvent printers)

how long did this last until it needed to be cleaned again? I know it will vary based on quantity/frequency of printing so in your case, how long did you get clean prints after cleaning?

About 6 months to a year. I suspect this is down to the usual variables such as ink source and age, and how often the printer is used.
