Yes please - I have a NON-self-cleaning oven and would love your help to get it clean again!
@Lucysmom264 жыл бұрын
Yep, same. When I moved into my rental it hadn't been cleaned for a long time and I tried 3 separate time to clean it (with oven cleaners, hardcore scrubbies etc.) and NOTHING has gotten the baked-on crap off the oven or the glass window. I swear I heard faint laughter coming from the oven itself when i watched some YT tutorials that recommended baking soda. At this point I'm 85% sure literally nothing will clean it but would very much love to be wrong.
@celianicoll70604 жыл бұрын
Baking soda and vinegar! Make a thick paste of baking soda and water. Smear it all over the inside of the cold oven and let it sit for a few hours. I usually do this the night before and let it sit overnight. Then use hot soapy water and rinse all the soda paste off. It should bring all the grime and gunk with it. Then spray on a vinegar and water solution and wipe it off with a damp cloth. For the outside, hot soapy water and a clean cloth should do the job. Do the racks in the sink or bath with hot water and dish soap. Scrub with a scourer and rinse clean with hot water. This is an easy to do method that does not use aggressive chemicals.

I make a paste of baking soda and dishsoap for the oven. Works like magic, when I moved into my current flat the oven was in bad condition, but it came out looking like new and also the weird greasy smell was gone.

Melissa I don’t know if you have done something like this, but one quick ask: Please do a video on cleaning an apartment or home where the people before you either did not clean...ever, or the landlord used a cleaning service, but things are still not clean. Stoves, ovens, carpets floors, etc (a.k.a. Everything!).i have helped my daughters move into places like this and it has been overwhelming! I would love to have a video, or videos on how to deep clean something your loved ones are moving into. Thanks, love your microfiber clothes. I have many of them and am constantly gifting them to loved ones.

My favorite way to clean an oven: sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda in the bottom, completely covering any burned on gunk. Then make a thick paste of baking soda and a little water, just enough to make it sticky. Then spread that onto the sides and top of the oven with a sponge. Do this on the inside of the door, too. Next fill a spray bottle with full-strength vinegar and spray all the baking soda to make it bubble. I love that effect! Close the oven and leave it overnight. The next morning everything wipes clean with paper towels. It’s amazing! I would replace my electric stove with a gas one! I much prefer cooking with gas! Thanks for all your wonderful videos!

Just start doing this and it makes such a difference in what I buy, because I see what I waste or what I need to buy again. And it's nice to have a clean spacious fridge to put my new buys in. I also quickly organize and tidy my pantry and that's helped me not buy things we already havr or maybe remove something on my shopping list that I can supplement from my pantry for an upcoming dinner. That's helped a lot esp with not overbuying anything I don't need.

I have a self-cleaning oven. You take the racks out then hit the self-cleaning button. It locks the oven door and gets super hot and turns everything to a little ash that you wipe out after it cools down. Unfortunately it stinks up the house. I had all the house windows open and my pets and I had so much trouble breathing because of the incredible fumes. It didn’t say anything about having to leave the house. I cancelled it after one hour and it was almost completely clean. I will not use it again so now I need to know how to clean it. Easy off gives me breathing issues too so I’m looking into vinegar or baking soda.

I have cleaned homes for a number of years; my clients love me, refer me, and say I am the best. After watching your video I see so many improvements I could make. I feel that I have become complacent in some ways. Since covid I have started wiping remotes, computer mice, light switches, door knobs, all with rubbing alcohol. I leave a note for the client, and they are delighted. Another thought for your dishwasher (yours, not a client's as if you wreck it that will be expensive); take everything inside apart and clean the heck out of it. There are KZbin videos. Yes it took me all day but wow!

Always so many great suggestions! Thanks Melissa I sometimes just use bottled lemon juice or the plastic shaped lemon juice, in a bowl of water to steam up the inside of my microwave. I find it works just as well as using a whole lemon. You can take that whole lemon and add salt to it to remove water stains from your faucets. 😘 I had some hard water buildup around the faucet nozzle and the lemon and salt dissolved it in no time. I add a tiny splash of bleach to my dishwasher wash cycle after its filled up with water. I have been doing it for years and it keeps my dishwasher smelling clean as well as sanitizing my dishes and removing any stuck on stains, including teacup and coffee cup stains. It helps keep my white and clear glass dishes looking shiny.

You 2022 NY resolution is to clean more regularly & watch cleaning hack vids to help me. I’ve watched a handful of vids from Tiktok over that last couple of months & you my friend are my fav so far. I already use vinegar (& baking soda) in my washer and a cold other places you mentioned, but NOW I am totally using it for jewelry & so much more!! Actually, I’m going to watch this again & take notes :). One thing I wanted to point out regarding using baking soda in washing machines, is to use it sparingly and maybe even set your washer to do a second rinse when you use baking soda in the washer. Reason being is that a cpl years ago, I would use baking soda for almost every other load (house a five we do a TON of laundry). Then one day my washer started backing up with water & would not drain. The baking soda had clogged the drain hoses & $300 later, the repair guy told me it was the baking soda that clogged the hoses. I still use them (I actually use vinegar & baking soda together in one load) but I just use it sparingly now & runs. Second rinse with it. One last hack that I just created last weekend, was to put my vinegar in an empty detergent bottle & place it on top of my washer like i do with my soap. It’s a simple way to dispense the vinegar (just make sure to label it, so hubby doesn’t mix it up with soap.lol) I am a fan of your channel from the first vid I saw…Can’t wait to watch more. Thank you!

I can't believe I never thought to soak oven racks in the tub! Wow, game changer. I needed to clean my Breville air fryer/toaster oven racks so I poured in about 1/2 cup of Tide liquid laundry detergent and filled enough water in tub to just submerge them. Worked like a charm! Just a word of warning with a self cleaning oven. I cook all of my family's meals and use the oven ALL THE TIME. So I would use the self cleaning function of the oven to keep it clean. One day I was getting dinner in the oven, went to check on it, and it was stone cold. No, I had not forgotten to turn the oven on. The self cleaning that I'd done earlier in the day had burned something up in the oven so it would not work anymore. When I was having it repaired, the repairman said not to use the self cleaning feature because my oven was inside a wall cabinet (not a standalone oven / stove combination) and there wasn't enough ventilation to keep the electrical components cool. The repairman said he did more repairs after a self clean than he could count. Just passing that information along!

PLug all of the vents and place a cup of ammonia on the bottom and pour boiling water in a separate bowl in the oven, Close the door and leave it overnight. In the morning you should be able to wipe out most of the gunk with a wet cloth. Next time something boils over in the oven sprinkle it with a good amount of salt and allow it to cool. Lazy oven maintenance.

You hit the nail on the head about cleaning a self cleaning oven. I am so scared to do it. So please do a video on how to....Never had one like this before. I always learned to pour salt heavy on a soiled spot on the oven floor and I was always lucky enough to be able to clean an oven very easily. Hope it is soon. I am staying home again here in Texas since our numbers have gone out of site again. My upgrade would have been a new dishwasher. I actually ordered one, paid for it and the factory hasn't delivered it to the store. It was two months of waiting, So I gave up. My vacuum gave up & I used some of the money for a new stick vacuum. Thanks so much.

Here are some of my tips for cleaning: use swiffer cloths to dust surfaces before you apply a wet solution. Most of the dirt that you will encounter is basically dust. So again do not apply a wet solution to a surface until you use a swiffer to pick up the dust. Another little tip I use so that I do not have to clean out the refrigerator is to apply Glad press and seal sheets to the glass shelves. This way you can just remove them when they get dirty. At lastly, buy dawn dish washing detergent. It is a degreaser. I just add a little to a spray bottle and then mix the rest with water.

My upgrade was an instant hot water faucet. I just wish I had bought this years ago. Not only do I use it to make tea but for cooking veggies that start with hot water, so sterilizing knives after they are wiped off and for warming up cooling water etc. I love it.

Would love to see a tutorial on how to clean a self cleaning oven.

I would FOR SURE get a dishwasher as my upgrade. My husband and I BOTH dislike doing the dishes. So much wasted time. And PLEASE do a cleaning video for a non-self-cleaning oven. I had to clean mine recently and it was a disaster!

Cleaning question: I moved into a 25 year old house and I'm certain that the tops of the kitchen cabinets were never cleaned. There is a thick layer of orange, sticky, greasy, filmy, sludge up there. I have tried various cleaners (dish soap, degreaser, scrapers, even windshield washer fluid on the advice of a cleaning lady) with little luck lifting off this sludge. Do you have any advice on how to clean it up? Thanks!

Have you tried Awesome degreaser? I used it for this same purpose. I sprayed it on there and let it sit for about 10 min. Then sprayed again and used one of those thin, green, scrubbing sponges to get it all off. When it was off I sprayed it with a normal kitchen cleaner and wiped it clean with a microfiber cloth. Not sure if you were looking for a more natural option but i hope this is helpful.
@@George_Tropicana I've never tried that! I looked online at a few Canadian retailers and it isn't available. It is on amazon.ca but its $48! I don't think its a viable option right now :(

Grease can be lifted with grease. Take a vegetable oil (e.g. sunflower oil) and baking soda. Make a paste out of it and scrub with a sponge. Let sit for 10 minutes and scrub away. It should be come right off. You can also put a little bit of dish soap into the paste as well if the grease is really thick and hard to remove just as just said. It takes some elbow grease (no pun intended 😅) but you’ll be able to remove it 💪🏻 Hope that helps 😊

Is there an app you recommend for keeping track of household chores? (Or perhaps you could make on for us 😇)

Yes, please show cleaning both self cleaning ovens and non self cleaning, I have access to both. My upgrade would be the dishwasher (I sure miss it), has gone out during COVID. Thanks for the tips and tricks in the kitchen!

Any time I use vinegar to clean the coffee maker or tea pot (once a month) I dump the baking soda from the fridge down the kitchen drain followed by the hot vinegar then I replace the baking soda in the fridge.

Definitely want to see how to do a self-cleaning one. I’m scared to use it, & our smoke alarm goes off all the time whenever we cook bacon in it. 😂 🔥 🥓

Same here! Please help us clean our self-cleaning ovens. (Odd that when I downloaded my stove/oven directions, it said to turn it on and it will start. It does not. My other self-cleaning oven did not clean when I 'turned it on' either. Different manufacturers, same lack of info.)

How about cars?? I really want to clean and sanitize my car but don't know what to use. I dont want to leave those weird "clean spots" or have the fabric/ material ruined.
