Thank you for this video. I recently got your new green rangers and have been hesitant to apply sno seal since it darkened my buffalo ones quite a bit. But I think both treatments look good here. Thanks for bringing us awesome boots and care videos.

The suede spray looks a lot like Durable Water Resist spray. I have decided to treat my new AR8's in tan RO with that stuff. Seems to do a good job on my RO tankers.

When I got my green rangers the first thing I did was to put Saphir renovatour on them, they darkened beautifully, the same color as my Barbour wax jacket. They conformed to my feet quickly and are very comfortable. Good stuff!

@popuppete
@popuppete 4 күн бұрын
@@twirlyboggs I've got a pair of these and a pair of the leather Lems Bolder Boots. While I love the fit and comfort of the Lems I find they don't breath very well. The Jim Greens do breath better in comparison. they are a decent summer boot. Though I am in the north, and I consider 90 degrees pretty hot, so I can't confirm if the Jim Greens will suit your environment very well.

I beeswax my Houston green right out of the box. Suede spray might be the quickest, but price wise beeswax is cheaper.

Leaning towards leather balm, but spray looks great as well. Guess two pairs are in order. Two questions #1. Does long term wetting of that leather cause any durability issues? #2. Is the leather balm edible? Thanks
@JimGreenFootwearOfficial
@JimGreenFootwearOfficial 5 ай бұрын
Good day! We would not recommend long term wetting as this will have an effect on the leather, our boots are water resistant and not water proof 💪. A bees wax finish should improve the water resistant properties of the boot for the wetter days out 🐸. As for the leather balm being edible, we would not recommend this and should not be done 🙌

Which is the “proper” way to fold the tongue?
@Enol666
@Enol666 6 ай бұрын
So when you're putting your boots on, take your hands and use 2-4 fingers to push into those tongue gussets on either side, making sure front of the tongue is flat against your leg, and then lace as normal. Tongue should fold on the sides and remain flat against your leg as you made sure of with that first maneuver in the beginning.

I just let mine scrunch up on my ankle. It doesnt bother me at all. I will try tucking it into the sides the next time i wear them.
@tonydragon784
@tonydragon784 6 ай бұрын
The first fella has a fantastic answer, I'll only add that with tongues like these, generally you want an S shape to it so you have a nice flat portion resting on your foot - but sometimes with the Jim Greens you kinda get a double S so watch for that
@zachmiller9175
@zachmiller9175 6 ай бұрын
They have a tendency to scrunch up in the middle anyway so I just let mine do what they wanted and as the boots broke in the folds formed to the top of my foot and are basically flat on the inside now.

Which of the leather options for the barefoot ranger is more soft, supple and malleable?

Dumb question but I’m having hotspots on my new Jim green boots with about 4 miles in them. Should I keep pushing through and try to wear them in more?
@zachmiller9175
@zachmiller9175 6 ай бұрын
That's what I've been doing, currently breaking in my 4th pair of jim greens. I recommend wearing them around the house a few hours at a time for like a week before wearing them all day or on a hike, the heavy all leather construction takes some time to soften up and form to your foot, but once they do they're very comfortable.

Thanks for the video! Can a crepe brush (normally used for suede and raw nubuck) be used in place of a soft bristle brush for your nubuck/crazy horse AR boots?

Do you have recommendations for leather soap, and non-wax conditioner / oil? If I understand correctly, and I'm quite ignorant on this, it would generally be better to feed the leather with a conditioner before waxing because the wax will prevent penetration of the oil, and then wax over it for wax's protection properties.
@JimGreenFootwearOfficial

Just out of curiosity, will the barefoot style ranger ever be available for the amazon store? Also, what of the newer leather colours introduced (Houston black, black, olive)? I imagine you guys have a lot to consider logistically, so a slower roll out of product here in the US would make sense, seeing as these are all newer products. I love my Razorbacks, big love from C Town in Ohio!

Texas farmer here, who owns the boots. Please REMOVE the tiny triangle from the bottom of the boot, i love the boots but that pattern is a dung magnet 🧲, everyday i have to use a stick to dig out poop that gets caked underneath, i much rather the bottom be complete flat , to screp the dung on a side of a step or grass. Ive used the boot in VERY HEAVY out door use, farming goats, cattle , in the Texas thorny desert and it does well. As well as hiking in the mountains of mexico 🇲🇽 for 10 hour hikes. Boots are excellent except having to dig dung out, and clay/ thick mud. It cakes up unfortunately. If this was somehow solved it would literally be the worlds greatest boot.

@oscarbear7498
@oscarbear7498 3 ай бұрын
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday you slip regarding since it gets caked. Also the dirt & mud it picks up is added weight. The traction gain is negligible as when you need it like on wet areas with rocks , most likely ....like all the time mud is involved too. Which again... it's just caked losing the treads. In theory it seems good but in (6 months) practice sucks.
