May need assistance getting it off and on. Aweful design really! Do you know if there is a way to take out the drum? @LowWingFlyer4 ай бұрын
I’d rather deal with this gasket than have a top load. The old top load center agitators used to work the clothes but the new ones look just wiggle the clothes around regardless of how you loaded the washer. At least with a front load you know it is tumbling the clothes. Just my preference.

thanks for the video. I was able to replace the gasket. However, how do I diagnose the issue if the washer starts dripping water?
@realhouseDIY19 күн бұрын
Dripping at the door would be an issue with the front spring clamp. Dripping underneath near the front is either the gasket drain connection or the inner spring. I would probably take the outer spring off and look under the gasket.
@SamHong-j2i18 күн бұрын
@ thank you! had a pro look at it and turns out it was the inner spring that became too loose bc I decided to undo a loop to give myself a bit more slack. I do not want to go through the inner spring pain again, so happy to pay $149 to get it fixed ($35 new inner spring included). He installed a new inner spring that you can just screw in instead of fighting for your life. I bought a new one and it was hard to get to "slip" on to the white flange. It was easier for me to start on the top. There was no room for the spring at the top so I put back on the side where there is a space to work. I pulled the spring up to the hook with needle nose pliers. Took all of my strength to do that. Gotta have a lotta light to see the hook. I took the drain hose off to clean it and put it back on the gasket first, then used the needle nose pliers to open the clamp and push it back onto the machine. It was easier for me than pushing two flexible things back together with all of the plastic flopping around. Still working on the outside metal ring...

You show the insertion of the inner ring clamp but you then sort of skip over the process of connecting the ends of the clamp. All I know is you used a vise grip (what is it gripped to?) to somehow bring together and connect the ends. @@realhouseDIY I haven't even gotten to the point of reconnecting the ends (using an expansion tool). After hours and hours of unsuccessfully trying to get the inner ring situated in it's groove on the seal, I have determined there is some trick to it that I haven't figured out, or it's just flat-out impossible. I've concluded the only way to replace that ring is to remove the top and front of the washer. But before I resort to that, please tell me if there is indeed a trick, and if so, what the heck is it????
@realhouseDIY4 ай бұрын
@@swingblakester the top is typically very easy to remove so might help see what's going on. But there's no trick to it. Just fits around the white drum lip then should stay seated well while getting the clamp on.

@@realhouseDIY I think I’m having similar issue. The problem is as you’re working the lip around the white portion, just when you think you’re done, a part of the lip somewhere else in the circle pops out. Then you go to reinsert that part of the lip and then it pops out in another place. It’s a nonstop wacka mole. where you’re just hoping that the tension holds, and you can get it fully insert it all the way around without it popping out somewhere

The seal has an arrow shape on the top of it (directly opposite the drain). Does the inner ring go in the groove behind that arrow, or does the ring go in the groove in front of it?

Totally agree. My LG washer must be a different model cuz it was WAY harder to get the seal to seat properly than what is shown in this video. Then when I tried to close the retaining ring the seal would pop off. After a day of this my fingers were sore and I had bruises on my wrists from having my hands jammed inside the washer. 😂😂 The only way to do it was to remove the top panel, front panel, control panel, and the big black thing that screws onto the front of the tub. Then it was doable.

Maybe someone who really know what he is doing can do it, but for most people i think it is not realistic. I bought a new one (kind of stiff), so maybe with an old one already shaped correctly (and soft), you can do it this way, but i wouldn't count on that. @@Mcblounnn at least on this particular model it's not as simple as just removing the front door. It would require the top panel to be removed, then the control panel, then the front panel.
