Good vid, but an easy way, buy a small fine brush (kindof like the ones used to paint corners of interior walls) the fibers will go deep enough to scrub the fins and knock the dust loose, take your time on both sides and use a vaccume to catch the rest. This way you avoid breaking anything. I did it two days ago, fan looks brand new.

If you don’t have the right screwdriver setup for the fan screws, then you can still get the job done by using an air duster spray can to spray the blades. and you can catch the dust with a vacuum hose. Usually the top back vents of the console. Try to spray only in the direction the fan is supposed to spin.

At 4:52 before you blow compressed air, make sure to cover the remaining open part of the pS5 with a cloth and then blow. That way you will not blow the dust back into the machine.
@averydizzle3 күн бұрын
Just use the hand attachment of a vacuum. Don’t blow and get the dust in the air and everywhere else, not to mention probably throwing some of it back in the PS5. I suggest just grabbing the vacuum and using the hand / tube attachment. I’ve got a regular bissel household vacuum and it works wonders

Had mine since Day 1 of launch and there wasn't a lot of dust in there so probably wasn't worth the hassle for me but its easily done and designed to be cleaned without voiding the warranty hence why the sticker is not touched. Just thought I give people an idea to how much dust will be in there after this period of time, however it really depends on the conditions you keep it in and whether you do plenty of dusting around where it sits.

Thanks so much man. Gained a subscriber. Got my PS5 for 15 months and dust was starting to be unpleasantly visible on grid and part of the fan. Followed this, and now is as clean as new. The only part where I struggle was removing the front plate. Important: the screwdriver that fits better is a T8 security torx. To clean the fan properly help yourself with canned air and a dust catcher to reach the tricky part between the blades. I used the screwdriver to help me push the dust catcher deep between the blades. Hopes this helps!

Unfortunately when I took off the covers I realised I didn't have the screwdriver for that type of stupid screw so I wasn't able to unscrew to get at the fan and clean. What tool did you use to take the fan out
@pacman58002 жыл бұрын
I bought an electric air duster from Amazon it's awesome it was expensive $60 but it's like a leaf blower in a handheld duster. I use it to clean my ps5 gets all the dust out
@deejones85522 жыл бұрын
I may have to do that. I tried every method online and my ps5 has been crashing non stop with ps5 games
@pacman58002 жыл бұрын
@Dee Jones hmm,that might be a software issue or maybe corruption or something but you never know that could be the reason especially if it's getting hot and then crashing I'm no electronics expert but could be one of those things. Did you try clear cache and rebuild database?
@deejones85522 жыл бұрын
@@pacman5800 hmm no.. I will try that then maybe factory reset then if it don't work then idk. Appreciate your help and thanks for getting back to me.

This is very informative. How often do you recommend to clean it?
@Link345_13 жыл бұрын
Personally I deep clean the fan once a month or two. But I vacuum it every week. Yep crazy I know 😂
@Link345_13 жыл бұрын
Other tip to remember is that those holes for the covers grips can be vacuumed too.

Good video thank you idk why I can’t get the short screw out with the T9 tho it’s wedged inside fs
@slushybelt86636 ай бұрын
The screws have a little pin in the middle of them is there a special screw driver with a hole or how does that work?

Huge help thank you! But I notice my ps5 is louder after cleaning. The fan at times is very loud now. Is this normal? I was extra extra careful and did not damage the wires, any reason why it would be so loud all of a sudden?
@jesjones4682 Жыл бұрын
Maybe the screws aren't in snug enough 🤔 it's the only way the fan can rattle about. Just double check that.
@bilalrafiq7884 Жыл бұрын
The same happened to me. I made sure I was careful taking off the covers and I only used a vacuum gun to get dust off without even opening the fan yet as I needed to get the right screwdriver (thought it would be the same as ps4 but it requires a T9 with a hole in the middle to grip the screw) anyway, I can hear slight "coil whining" when I load up a game now which has concerned me a bit. I know it doesn't cause any issue but I'd rather it be silent as it was before 😒

Thanks, I might have forgotten the screw order when reassembling 😄. I will say my strategy was slightly different...my fan was caked. I used cotton buds (q-tips) to loosen the dust, then one of those low power car vacuum cleaners to lift it. Took a while but I can confirm it still works after reassembly 😀👍
@morning.cereal2 жыл бұрын
Great idea!! I used the q-tips to clean the fan and it worked great, no need to remove it.

I don't have tools so I've just been cleaning out my fan with Q-tips can that damage your fan if it's spins while it's off like would it burn out the motor

Great video tutorial, please, is there anyone who can help me? When I want to clean the ps5 fan, should I disconnect the entire fan from the ps5 to be sure? I saw on other videos that most people did it that way, this guy just turned the fan over and cleaned it, don't I have to worry about the cable disconnecting?
@-_-jacob9978 Жыл бұрын
Yes don't disconnect the wire
@bridgeboy4126 Жыл бұрын
This ultimately depends, someone will go the full disconnect route, for a more indepth clean but you need to be incredible careful doing it that way, if you aren't sure of it follow what the dude is doing in this video.
