HOW TO: Clean Sawgrass Printer Capping Station

WHEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN THE CAPPING STATION?
The capping station should be cleaned when there is clogged nozzles in your printer. This step should be taken after both head cleans and head flushes have been performed but have not fixed the clogging issue.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
A small flathead screwdriver (or something small enough to fit in the door sensor hole temporarily)
Syringe or Dropper
Distilled water (preferably hot)
A lint free cloth (such as an eyeglass cleaner), or a lint free Q-Tip
STEPS:
1. With the printer powered off, open the top cover, and locate the print head.
2. Using the small flathead screwdriver or something small enough to fit in the sensor slot, gently press down on the door sensor to hold it in place. (We're going to trick the printer here into thinking the lid is closed)
3. Power on the printer, and when the print head begins to move, remove the power cable when the print head has traversed ½ to ¾ of the way.
4. With a syringe or dropper, use steaming hot distilled water to fill the capping reservoirs and dab with a lint-free cloth a few times until the area is clean
5. After dabbing with a lint-free cloth, fill the reservoirs again and slide the print head slowly over the capping station.
6. Power the printer on and run a Head-Cleaning cycle for both heads. Repeat up to 3 times if necessary.
NOTE: The key here is that we want the water to be able to run freely through. If you put the droplets in and they don't drain, there's a clog there that needs whittled down. Sometimes this takes a few steps in between.
Be patient! Remember, stubborn clogs can take time.

Again, thank you for these videos. How often should we do these cleanings? I’ve watched the other videos. I cleaned the capping station several months ago after some issues but that was it. My SG 1000 has been printing beautifully!

Hi there! This cleaning should only be done when you run into issues with your ink. Should not be used for regular maintenance.
