good question. yes, drying can be done in the sun BUT it is not recommended. Drying in the sun can shrink and deform the leather - it accelerates the natural drying of the leather in sometimes not the best of ways. Best to dry the shoes in shade (whether inside or outside)

Since Dubarry is not our brand we would not want to speak in their place but will generally say that if the boat shoes are made of suede then you could use the same principles discussed in this video

I found this video when I was shopping for suede loafers on your site. I use a Crepe Suede Shoe Brush for my suede shoes, I notice that you use a regular brush in the video. Is that for the cleaning just before the shampooing for do you normally use that brush? Is a crepe brush necessary? Thanks.

A crepe brush and stuff bristled brush (as shown in video) serve nearly identical purposes. I prefer the bristled brush for shampooing and would not recommend a crepe brush for shampooing. Crepe brush is great for cleaning/brushing off dry suede. Said another way, if you only want to have 1 brush go with a stiff bristled one, if you are fine with having 2 brushes then have one of each.

Are you telling us that it’s safe to wash leather sole shoes in water like you do here in this video? I always thought we should also keep them away from rainy days, and yet here you are washing then under the sink…. I have similar high quality suede loafers with leather soles, can I follow the same process?

Hi - it is safe to do it with our shoes, just don't leave them sitting in water and dry them as fast as possible. If possible do not get the sole and interior of shoe wet but if you do it is fine. We've been cleaning our suede Jay Butlers like this for years. We cannot, however, vouch for other brands shoes and would encourage you to limit getting water inside and on soles of other shoes.

Hi Sophia, Most suede shoes can be fully wetted. At least ours can, but we can't speak for other brands. We do not recommend soaking your shoes or letter them sit in water, instead just wet them just long enough to apply the shampoo and provide an adequate rinse. -J
