Hi Megan! Try Menzerna 2400 compound on a orange forced rotation pad on a DA polisher. Polish to a haze, then wipe off. Do not use any heavier compound than the Menzerna 2400, it will ruin the isinglass. I’d the Menz 2400 does not clear up the hazing or scratches in the isinglass, then it is too far gone.

Honestly, I don’t really do a lot of polishing faded isinglass. I actually have a isinglass glass guy that I sub my polish jobs and re outfits too! I have polished a few though, you can use menzerna 400 then follow 2500 and 3500 on a while and black lake country foam pad. It’s best if you take the glass off and polish on a smooth flat surface.

Thanks Drake for all your awesome step-by-step detailing videos and product suggestions. It's clear your spend a lot of time putting these together for us amateur enthusiasts. Much appreciated brotha! Follow-up question on using Menzerna on slightly hazy/cloudy Isinglass: When using 400, is there a decent chance the abrasiveness of the product alone is enough to irreparably damage/scuff the Isinglass? If so, should I start with the 3500 or 2500 and see if that's enough to cut that haze in the glass and work my way up to 400 and back before I get to sealing it with the Jescar? Thanks again!

@DrakesDetailing4 жыл бұрын
I like orpine wash and wax when I am washing a waxed boat, it will keep the wax safe and will not strip it off... typically when doing a detail, I like dawn because it strips off any waxes that maybe on the surface to give me a fresh clean surface. Only use dawn if you are going to wax it immediately after. Use orpine wash and wax when you want to protect the wax and clean the surface.

@@DrakesDetailing Check out Auroramarine.com. They have great products for boat cleaning/detailing and one of their products is specifically designed to restore isinglass. I have used many of their products and been very pleased with them. Let me know what you think. I'm not a professional, just a DIYer so I'm certainly no genius on the subject. LOL. FYI, I would say my favorite product is their "Boat Scrub". It is great for removing light oxidation or stains in gel coat. And Drake is absolutely right about using Polymer Sealants, they are the way to go for protecting your vessel. They chemically bind to the substrate (gel coat) and create a sacrificial barrier to protect your surface. If you continue to keep that sacrificial barrier in good shape, your underlying material will continue to look wonderful. Sorry for rambling. If you have any questions let me know.
