Just seeing this 3 yrs later. Seemed to be right time as I Plan to move to Fla. More importantly the part you spoke of on keeping the faith and be persistent. I could see in your face you seemed to Reflect on your past. I too have been going through tough times here in Jersey. Which is why I'm thinking of moving and starting a Biz like this, so I'm my own Boss and my Pace.

Long time viewer, love all the experience and knowledge you bring!! 🙏 I got a question for ya I have a boat that is 2 years old, was professionally ceram coated in factory. Last year, being under warranty the dealership stored and waxed the boat-which waxing part was never actually done 😠 My question to you is, do you recommend I wash with a ph balanced soap before detailing and polishing with the powerlock+ or should I do a dilution of dawn soap?
@frozenjam79803 күн бұрын
Boat turned out amazing mate!! Thanks again for what you do!!🥂
@DrakesDetailing14 сағат бұрын
Hey bro! You can use any degreaser to wash a boat before compounding or polishing. Dawn dish detergent is most common. 😎
@Realdetail5 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot for this! Very helpful for someone like me wanting to step into the boat area of detailing instead of just cars. Would this be a similar pricing strategy for pontoon boats as well? The variable I assume would be polishing the pontoons. I had a customer ask me about a pontoon boat. Would you suggest a basic polish on the pontoons for one package with the rest of the paint and then a mirror-finish package as well? Thanks for any help man! Your great information made me a subscriber. Not many people out there being such great content for free.
@DrakesDetailing2 күн бұрын
Thanks so much man! Me personally, I would still detail pontoon boats, the painted walls, the consoles and the floors. However, I personally will never ever polish another pontoon boat ever again. I did one once, and you can’t pay me enough money ha ha.

How does the chop top compare to menzerna 400? and how does the heavy cut compare to ardex 600? Any preference as far as working with it?
@DrakesDetailing2 күн бұрын
Chop chop is definitely going to be more aggressive than Marina 400. Heavy cut is right up there on par with our deck 600. Me personally, I’d rather use shine supply heavy cut.

Yes, absolutely it would last longer- given its installed correctly, and maintained properly. I don’t really use star products anymore, every once in a blue moon. I use mainly shine supply products now.

I bought a bass boat that someone sprayed with automotive clearcoat and it's half flaked off, the gelcoat is oxidized where it's gone. any thoughts on the best way to remove the rest of the clearcoat?
@DrakesDetailing6 күн бұрын
At this point, probably sanding. Seems 1000 grit sandpaper, then 2000 and see if it gets the rest off.

Do I need to use the foam pad? I just want to wax/polish my boat. A lot of what you’re saying is going right over my head. What do I need to do? My boat is a 2014 Nauticstar 203 DC red and white color.
@DrakesDetailing9 күн бұрын
It highly depends on the condition of your gelcoat. If you are saying it just needs polished and waxed, then I’d use a DA polisher with an orange force rotation pad from Lake country, then I’d apply a polymer sealant with a black pad from Lake country. shinesupply.com/collections/pads-applicators/products/hdo-orange-foam-cutting-polishing-pad shinesupply.com/collections/pads-applicators/products/hdo-black-foam-polishing-finishing-pad I’ll have to get back to you regarding an upholstery guy. 😎

What? You’re in Pensacola? We live about 30 minutes from Pensacola, near Foley Alabama. Do you know anyone that can stitch my seats on my boat? I have some rips in the center section of the seats. It looks like the stitching could be removed and re sewn. Or would I need a complete reupholstering of the seats? I took pictures but don’t know how to add them on KZbin

Drake first thanks for the videos you have taught us all some much about how to detail and maintain our boats. I have one question I bought the shine supply top chop and clutch to detail my boat but I usually use Jescar as my sealant can I use both jescar and clutch if so which one gets applied first?
@DrakesDetailing9 күн бұрын
Hey bro! You’d apply Jescar powerlock first, then you can use clutch as a topper over that if you’d like to.
