The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install kzbin.infoUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

I'm disabled in a wheelchair and I've been wanting to clean my AC window unit because it doesn't work as good as it used to. I figured you could hose it down because we used to do that years ago, but I haven't done it in awhile, so watching your video enlightened me on how to do it again. Now, to get someone to remove it and put it on the patio for me; that's another issue since my husband passed away 2 years ago. Pahrump Nevada

You can also open the Styrofoam housing around the front fan and clean that compartment. The smaller fan looks like a gerbil wheel. A lot of mold can be located in that area of the unit. I use a leaf blower to blow out leaves and dirt after opening the unit, being careful not to hit the fins with a blast of air causing them to bend. Soak down both fans in sudsy solution, rinse, tip to drain, repeat. Be careful to use low water pressure when spraying it off so you don't bend fins. I also blow out any excess rinse water with the leaf blower for a faster dry time. If the fins are bent, you'll need to straighten them to get good air flow through the unit. I just did a 6500 BTU that was easy and working on a 12,000 BTU unit full of mold now. It's a complete tear down, I removed all of the housing. The fins behind the large fan were covered in muck and mold.

It’s also huge. :/ It’s only a few years old but I’ve been really sick since I placed it in the window this year. Hey Jonny, I was going out of my mind trying to get the front off of my machine. It was my daughters and I had no idea how bad of shape it was in until I noticed that the filter light was on. I know I had just cleaned it and well, it was just too soon to do it again. I took my mini light and peeked into the front of the air conditioner, and it floored me at the amount of thick muck that was in he front. I fought with it, but the blasted machine wouldn't release the front for cleaning. I contacted the maker of this machine and they had nothing, and i mean NOTHING! on how to get it off. I was by chance, after I futzed with it for an hour, even my dogs were getting worried about my blood pressure, so I decided to jump on KZbin and try to find someone who wants to do the same with their ac, that I wanted to do. And thank my lucky stars (wish it were the lottery numbers) you were working on the same pain in the butt type ac. Watching you got me thru a terrible time and when I finally got a chance to get it cleaned, and trust me it was black on the inside, when I switched it on, it was wonderful!!! Absolutely wonderful!. I live in an apartment complex in NYC, and a back yard is unavailable here on the 15th floor, but since I live alone and got that job done, it's such a satisfying feeling. Thank you again for your video, it really saved me.

My ac inner fin is covered in caked on cat hair and mud cleaned it like you do but despite my best efforts it is impoosible to get it all off with the fan in the way. Spraying from the backside of it does not blast through to the other side and clean it. Do i need a more heavy duty cleaning solution or something? I cleaned what i could and put it back but i have 4 other units that are just as bad we had a haboob come through and then a minor dirt storm after that been having issues with the compressors not kicking on and them icing up so i know they are all really clogged.

This was great, and to the point. Vinegar and soapy water, much cheaper and less toxic than a $10 bottle of Coil Cleaner. Thanks, I hadn't thought of that! Also, some people think you can't tip an air conditioner on its side, but that is only that it's not great to store it on its side. The liquids just have to settle back into place. Thanks Jonny DIY!

Thanks for following up & watching b dixxx. Yeah I try and use vinegar as a cleaner for a lot of different things around the house & stay away from harsh chemical cleaners as much as I can. @@JonnyDIY that's an interesting approach! I've never thoroughly cleaned an AC unit until now. And I found out why the compressor was rusty at the bottom. It's because the unit had no way of draining rainwater. I had to drill several holes at the base so it could drain and wouldn't accumulate, causing damage. Do you notice that often, or did I just happen to get a faulty appliance?
@JonnyDIY
@JonnyDIY 5 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Usually they have weep holes, but the main thing is to always have the unit at a slight angle towards the outside. A lot of times people will install them perfectly level or angled in and itll pool up

Does this show what not to do? 1 don’t use an acidic cleaner like vinegar 2 the evap coils provide cooling not the back coils focus more on them 3 don’t spray water directly down the fron where the air comes out take it apart and make sure it’s dry dry 4 if u spray the drain pan like that with everything stretched you will kick up dirt and get more it your unit

Becareful don't put water on the fan motor you will burn the winding of fan motor if you do it in similar ways without covering the fan motor with plastic bag and using that water pressure very risky for fan motor. Also the inner side of the condenser need to be seen as some time it does not go with water pressure, it becomes as hard as cement although it's dry mud over the fins but you need to use special washing chemical to soften it first and then it will wash away with normal water pressure. Or ypu can use steel wired brush to scratch it off very gently witout damaging aliminium fins at the lower insider fins of condenser at back side of ac
