Thank you for making this video. I just got an AeroGarden for Christmas and will need to do my first bowl rinse soon. I couldn't find clear instructions from AeroGarden, but your video demonstrates the process very well. Thanks!

Oh Thank you!! AG Newbie here and I had zero clue how to do this. AG blog talks about a siphon which is apparenly another thing to buy. Your way is more straightforward and allows inspection while at it. I appreciate this video, a lot, Robert!

Hello Mr. Matthews. What is the best medium to use for your 3D vessels? I bought 6 of them, but I think using dirt is not a good idea, as I get bits of dirt in the water. Should I put some cotton at the base and then fill it to the top with dirt? I know dirt is a broad term, so anything specific would be helpful. Also, I grew tomatoe plants until they were to the top of the light, and then replanted them outside in dirt. They looked healthy and smelt so "green" while in the aerogarden, and your 3D vessels were so nice because they allowed for the roots to be somewhat contained. Yes, a little root or two peeked out, but it was not a bush that clogged the machine, as it was with the original setup. I just pulled the plant gently out, like pulling a carrot from the ground and was happy to see that I had a nice root plug and the plant was not harmed at all. However, when I put it in the pot, they went downhill. So I will likely stick to stuff that does not need to be transferred because it will not grow too big, like herbs.

Well for mine, I usually use some seed-starting soil, or some potting soil. Whichever is cheaper. I put a little bit of soil in at first, compact that with a flat pencil, and then put the rest, that way it will soak up the water more evenly. When I put some more seeds in, I'm going to try peat moss to see if that makes any difference.

I put a little cotton from standard cotton balls. That worked. Any advice on how to prevent Algae formation. BTY thanks for a great product the roots do make their way out, sometimes I use a toothpick to make an exit if fhe cotton is too dense. But your product allows for so much herb growth but with a more contained root system.

You know, I have owned the Classic 7 Garden for over 10 years, and I never replaced the water in it ever. Now I JUST got one of the Harvest gardens, and I read that AeroGrow even says to do what this man did. BUT AeroGrow wants you to BUY their siphon pump, to get the water out, and give them $8...plus shipping. But the way HE did it, is a great idea. Just take of the grow-tray, dump it out and fill it back up, then put the grow-tray back on. I would do it that way, so there is water in it, before putting the roots back in the bowl. AeroGrow SAYS you don't HAVE to do this, but it kind of makes sense, to keep it cleaner, and the less buildup of chemicals. But I never did it in all the years of growing gardens in my BIG Classic 7 plug garden, and it was always a mass of roots, and I scrubbed it clean all the time, and usually had to replace the pump yearly! Now they don't make replacement pumps for it. Wonder when they will start to make the replacement pump for these new gardens?

A siphon? That's just daft! I suppose it makes sense if you're a bit infirm but they're not that heavy - even when they are full of water.
@mrpoohbearlvr7 жыл бұрын
It is just under a gallon of water..i think,i saw him pick up the growtray, and place it on that pot, great idea, then just dump the water out, refill it and put it back together. Makes perfect sense! Aerogrow just wants you to buy their 'siphon' on their site, I might do this with this garden i planted in this garden. But i would never do it in the big Classic 7 pod garden. It is just to big.

Roberto Matthews Ok thank you for your reply.
@chasedavis77914 жыл бұрын
Daisy Christina van Egmond you’re supposed to clean it every other time you give it plant food. before you give it the food to be specific. so, every 4 weeks.

How often do you have to change the water if you don't mind me asking
@RobertoMusicHelp4 жыл бұрын
No, I don't mind you asking. I tend to change it after each cycle. In other words when I finish with my plant. The water will be "changed" when you have to refill the water throughout the life of your plant(s).

Hi. I've got three of the basic harvests. I give them a full clean, on a regular basis, and sometimes I remove the filters and clean them too. My filters have got numbered dials, that can be turned using a screwdriver, on them. Does anybody know what they do? Does adjusting them make the pump work more frequently? Does it make the pump more powerful? If I remember correctly - the settings go from one to six. So, am I right to assume that six is higher frequency or power? I understand somebody would, probably, have had to experiment with the dial settings to know the answer as I can't find any documentation about it.
@jfrphoto014 жыл бұрын
Those are preset at the factory and should not be touched. They are set for the type of Aerogarden unit that you have. The same pump is used in several different models that need different amounts of pressure to move the water through the whole valve body (the part that the plants sit in on top).
@ETLAPESTE8 жыл бұрын
what is the liquid capacity (in liters) of the aerograden harvest ?
@RobertoMusicHelp8 жыл бұрын
2.839 liters. However, as the roots grow, there will be less space for water.
