I’d separate the upper and lower with the back pin and do that, maybe take out the bolt assembly and lubricate that too. But that isn’t cleaning

@@brandondang7156this ain’t it at all. It’s not hard at all. Your basic oiling takes 2 min tops. What this guy is doing does nothing. Take your Bcg out, look at the places it’s wearing and oil that.

You need to oil the cam pin and the lugs. The exposed part of the bcg doesn't even need anything that's not even a contact surface

Just hold the barrel straight up and pour a judicious amount of oil down the barrel then cycle the bolt several times. After that shake the excess oil out and you're good to go😮

I would not put oil in the two holes where gas is to escape. I don’t think there’s any value in that other than may be attracting dirt and causing a failure somewhere down the road potentially. Those two holes are for gas to escape and I don’t believe lubing does anything positive on that.

If the bolt is closed the oil goes up around the bolt ring and cam pin, not the tail where it would just be blown out on the first round.

There's a time and place for deep cleaning your AR, but the traditional white glove cleaning after every time you shoot it actually wears the gun faster than just leaving it dirty. Nothing wrong with an occasional wipe down though.

First half is fine but never put oil directly into those holes, gas comes out causing smoke and isn’t necessary

When the bolt is closed, the oil goes to the cam pin and support ring because it is forward of the gas rings. If you try to do it when the bolt is open, then yes all you are doing is dumping oil into the internal piston and its a waste.

Ar15s are so easy to take apart and clean I don’t see any logical excuse not to
