Your vehicles wheel wells can be an unsightly area if not properly cared for. On lower profile cars you may not be able to see them very much, but on most trucks and suvs this area can make or break the appearance of your vehicle. If your paint looks perfect and clean it can make dirty wheel wells stand out even more and make your car look older and less appealing than it actually is. In todays video I will show you how I safely and effectively clean the hardest wheels wells... Carpeted wheel wells. The process is the same whether your fender liners are carpeted, plastic, or painted but the the absorbency of the carpeted variants makes them the hardest to clean... ENJOY!!!

Is there anything that can be sprayed on the carpet liner to assist with future cleaning? My truck has carpeted liners from and rear and my wife's SUV has them on the rear. I live on gravel road so it's a constant battle keeping them clean especially after it's rained a lot and the road gets sloppy. Thanks, Dave

My favorite for carpeted is a turbo nozzle from 4-8 inches away. For plastic fender liners a hardcore tire cleaner like Shine supply Wiseguy gets them close to oem.

In the front wheel well you have those many square boxes where dirt collects. Is there a chemical you could spray in there and rinse off with no agitation, and get the dirt out? Im talking about normal dirt, not caked on. What about Dark Fury?

How does Koch Chemie green star and other similar products compare with just using water to soak the dirt that’s stuck on there?

Green star is a high alkaline apc. It breaks down dirt and encapsulates it

I know it's an available option but WHY do manufacturers offer carpeted wheel well liners? Perhaps it's to deaden the sound? But seriously, putting carpeting right where all the gunk of the road sprays onto has got to be one of the most absurd things they can do. What's next? Carpeted tires? Anyway, great video as usual. You are a very skilled detail professional!

These wheelwell liners have got to go. When I started driving back in '77 my father told me that during the winter (we live outside of Cleveland) I should rinse the wheel well flange at least once a week, I did that on every vehicle I have owned since: Never had any sigign of rust. Then I purchased a '14 Silverado with which I have been meticulous, sans the wheel well lip rinsing. Here's the issue. It has a wheel liner, so I cannot rinse the lip without removing the liner which does some protective good. And who wants to remove and replace all those push-pins and/or screws? This spring I noticed a bit of a bubble on the paint. No doubt salty water and other dirt still can accumulate there and, therfore, I will remove and clean the area properly. I won't re-install the liners.
@imjoshv
@imjoshv Ай бұрын
Yea its really interesting on why they do that. The only thing i can think is possible sound deadening, but definitely not worth the hassle of them
