I use this method on my 1997 Ford T-bird. Tried it by accident after I tried degreaser and low pressure water hose. This improved the look 100 % as the degreaser left a film and I didn't want to use high-pressure water on it. Looks like a new engine compartment as my regular mechanic was totally impressed.

It may make it look nicer but it also attracts more dust since the tire foam doesn't actually dry completely. So once you drive the vehicle road dust sticks to all the surfaces more, hence creating gunk and buildup that will in fact cause more issues than it’s worth. I suggest an Orange degreaser and plain water. Be sure to disconnect the battery.

I know the stuff dries on tires..it actually makes them look worse than never using the stuff at all, if you stop using it..Seems to dry them out and look a dullish Grey brown! I've done exactly what I show in the video for 20 years without any problems. I've done this long enough now that I don't have any concerns with it getting on any parts which is why I don't cover anything.

@@AllAmericanMack thank you for letting me know that helps me a lot And thank you for replying back to me. I want to make sure that I am clear. You were saying. I can spray that tire shine on the engine bay that includes batteries Alternator, and the fuse box are those going to be alright with out cover it?
@AllAmericanMack2 жыл бұрын
Ok, don't use tire shine as those are a different product and are heavily silicone based, I specifically use Armor All brand Tire Foam because I've used other brands in the past and find they don't work as well. I'm not specifically saying you should spray those items just that I do and have never had any problems. I say this because suppose when you spray it you get some on the alternator and 3 months later the alternator goes out. You're going to think that the tire foam likely caused it, even if it didn't so that's why I don't say to just spray everything. However as I said earlier, I do spray everything and always have without any problems for 20 years so it's just not a concern for me.

That’s actually a great idea, since it’s designed for rubber it must condition the hoses/rubber tubing/etc.
@marquisgrissom91293 жыл бұрын
Well conditioning hoses isn't actually a 'thing'. The heat they recieve from the engine will evaporate that stuff right off. Plus hoses have heated fluids traveling inside of them nothing you do the outside can prevent wear on the inside. Just change radiator fluid and power sterring fluid every 2 years to keep from building much heat and prevents rust where hoses meet the metal parts
@jackarup44813 жыл бұрын
@@marquisgrissom9129 Conditioning hoses *is* a thing. Will it prevent hoses or belts from cracking or drying out? No, but it *does* extend their life. Using your own misguided analogy, no one should even wash their vehicles since they are being washed on the outside which does nothing for the underside of the metal.
@marquisgrissom91293 жыл бұрын
@@jackarup4481 camparing apples to oranges i see. Don't believe the hype. Like i said most of those hoses carry hot matter through then. When they crack, they crack where it meets the metal and because they were probably roughly removed at some point before the failure. So theres no magic lotion to prevent that
@lisasisk3713 Жыл бұрын
@@jackarup4481 That's doesn't make sense. If don't remove the road dirt from the inside it will eventually wear out the inside. Just like dirt on a carpet. People that don't clean their carpets have wear tracks, where the dirt grinds a path into the carpet. But that doesn't happen to carpet when people regularly vacuum their carpet, same fact inside the engine.

@AllAmericanMack4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the support, both he and I really appreciate it. And also thank you for your your service as a veteran and police officer, both tough jobs. I usually do my engines a few times a year when I do a more thorough wash of my trucks. Years ago when I was an independant contractor for a deliver service, I drove a ton of miles, about 70k per year. I used to wash my truck much more frequently because I would be at the office waiting on runs and really there wasn't much else to do. Back then I would do it probably about once per month. I remember one time I was out of town and badly needed an oil change so I stopped by a quick lube joint. After they were done, the guy who did the oil changed asked me if I had put a new engine in the truck (it had over 200k at that point). I told him no, I just use the tire foam regularly. He couldn't believe that the engine looked that good with all those miles!

Thank you for showing and your son but, I have to say, this armor all is just going to leave a sticky residue and attract more dirt. 30-40 years ago, when I was working on my own cars, I use to use Gunk. I don't know if they sell it anymore. You would disconnect the battery. Cover all electrical exposed parts with Clephane wrap. Spray Gunk on using pretty much the whole can. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Take a garden hose, rinse it off. Tap any wet spots near places like distributor caps etc. Place battery cable back on. Turn engine on and let run till warm. That would dry it off completely. I would get more money when selling a car after that

Spray that crap all over the place that way at hides any leaks and or areas where there may be issues because it’s all shiny and therefore it’s hard to identify issues/leaks. Thank you! There are a lot of people who completely dismiss this method, many of which have never even tried it or have been scared by other videos claiming how "dangerous" it is lol. Too bad they don't give it shot and see for themselves. Oh well, those of us that actually use it know but some people will never be convinced.

@@davidg7346 It was a double edged sword when he enlisted. I didn't want him to go, but knew serving his country was an important thing for both him and the country. It was a proud moment watching him and all the others graduate basic training. I forward him these comments because he appreciates the support of people like yourself. He is stationed in a city where there is a huge anti-military sentiment and was actually spit on at the airport on a trip home for his grandmothers funeral. So people like yourself who take the time to write words of encouragement and support really do mean a lot. Thank you again and God bless!!

I did not use water after the foam. I have used water in the past and sprayed it off afterwards but I usually don't. It's going to work better if it's sprayed off but the whole reason behind cleaning it this way is to *NOT* spray a bunch of water on the engine. Here is an update video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXjWdmWipJiEjtk

Will it work under the hood of a 2008 Hummer H3 without damaging anything?
@d10dozerman24 жыл бұрын
@@dcdecastro1578 I've been using No Touch Foam Tire Spray or the Armor-All Foam Tire Spray under my hood for over 28 years with no issues. What I usually do, I'll take a power washer or the garden hose and spray off the engine with some water. Make sure you Do Not spray directly into any wiring harnesses. To be extra careful you can always cover them with a plastic bag. When I am done spraying off all the loose dirt and grime I wipe the excess water off with rags. I then will either drive the car for a bit or let the engine idle to get to normal temperature to help evaporate any moisture from the water. Then I spray it on a cool engine let it sit on there for about 10 minutes then I take a clean rag and wipe it all down. 😎 Wallah nice detailed engine compartment.😆 I hope that helps you out.

Does it really clean the engine or just mask the dirt? Seems to quick and easy.
@AllAmericanMack5 жыл бұрын
It does really clean it. I will post part of the description from the Armor All website below where it specifically states that it does clean and it works the same way it does on your tires. Really the only difference is you have more horizontal surfaces on the engine so you can wipe up any excess that doesn't drip off if you want, I just let it evaporate. I've done this for 17 years on all of my wifes and my vehicles without any problems. I guess it comes down to how much time and effort you want to put into engine cleaning. You could certainly do it by using degreaser and water or whatever method, but when I do it this way it is quick and easy as you said and it doesn't take hours to do it. From the Armor All website: Tire Foam®Protectant not only *CLEANS* your tires, it restores their natural, deep black appearance. Watch it working, as the intense foaming action *LIFTS AWAY TOUGH DIRT* Within minutes, our proprietary blend of nourishing conditioners penetrates into your tires, restoring their like-new appearance and bringing out their deep, natural colors. Intense foam activates on contact, *FLOATING DIRT AWAY* without scrubbing.

Thank you young man. You have saved me time in many ways. You're one cool and smart young man. I wish you could help me with my Pontiac G6. I can't hear like I use to and I have replaced my wheel bearing, but the noise came back after a year. It sounded like the driver's side and when I turn to the right it wasn't as loud and stayed the same when I turned to the right, so I changed the driver's side. It's not as loud but it's still there. Help

Sorry I just seen my mistake. When I turn to the right it wasn't as loud but when I turned to the left it stayed the same, so I changed the driver's side. The noise is still there but not as loud. I was thinking maybe a bad part or maybe I have to change both again. I don't know. Help
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
I'm certainly no mechanic but if you changed both of them and the noise went away for a year and then came back, I would guess one or both might need to be changed again. If they were cheaper bearings, it could just be failing prematurely or maybe water or debris got inside the seal. If you live somewhere that they salt the roads, that could cause early failure. Even bad roads can wear them out. I had a truck with 238k miles that I never changed the bearings on but my sons car only had about 60k before his needed to be changed. There's just a lot of factors that can go into how long they last. If it were me, I would go ahead and change them both again and be sure to use high quality bearings.
