How to clean your Epson Pro 3800 / 3880 Pump Cap and Wiper Blade

Amended method 12/12/14: If you observe the starting sequence when you first turn on your 3800 or 3880, you will see that at one point the wiper blade slides forward - pulling the mains lead out of the back of the printer at this point should freeze the position of the wiper blade in the forward (exposed) position, giving you far easier access for cleaning as the rest of the above video shows (grateful thanks to our customers for pointing this out) - when you have completed your cleaning, replace the mains lead, and the printhead and wiper blade should return to the rest position.

If your cleaning cycles do not work. The sprung-loaded pump cap transfers vacuum to the print head during cleaning cycles, by forming an air-tight seal up under the printhead surface with it’s rectangular ‘O’ ring seal. This ‘O’ ring seal must be microscopically clean at all times - tiny particles of dried ink will prevent an efficient cleaning action by reducing your vacuum transfer efficiency.
If you have a smear or indistinct nozzle check print out, it could be that your wiper blade is not evenly cleaning the underside of your print head. John demonstrates how to clean your printer’s wiper blade using Magic Bullet Maintenance Fluid. You will need cotton buds, a pair of long-nosed pliers, J-Cloth, scissors, and a bottle of Magic Bullet printer maintenance fluid.

my washer has got stuck and I slightly forced it back and now I get a error code, any help much appreciated. Should I now take the lid off and try to re align the wiper or see what the issue is.?? wen the machine is on, m the wiper goes across half way and then sticks and keeps trying and then goes back

Congratulation for your nice and clear explained video. I have a problem with my printer, if you please help. Basic parts of my printer(Photo RX620) near the cartridge holder area, are quit the same with the printer on this video. My problem is that the material which is like sponge and it is in the channels where the print head moves back and forth above of them (this channels lays below the print head when it moves all over it's movement back and forth - In the video you can see them, clearly right on the left of pump cap.), well this sponge has destroyed all over its way from left to right, like has melt and i want to replace it. Do you know (or anybody else) where to find a replacement or to use something else (an other material) to replace it ?? Thanks
