Hey guys, As some of you have mentioned, it's most definitley recommend to wear gloves while applying the cape cod, unless you're a savage like me. All the best, TWM gang!

Guys, don't be afraid as this is easier than you think. Ideally remove the watch head from the strap (I suggest Bergeon strap tool). Use electrical tape to mask the areas you are not refinishing. Use green pad for brushed steel. Use Peek applied to a microfibre for the polished steel (or Brasso wadding works) - it's like T Cut. WEAR GLOVES, especially if you have sensitive skin. Then a nice soapy clean either in the sink or take a shower with it. Be careful with any watches with less than 100M WR and check your screw down crown before you start.

Awesome points in there Mark, and I can vouch for Bergeron tools, they're the very best I've used.

If you want a satin finished back, try this method of knife making where you gave a rough brushes and finish with polishing pad. That'll leave satin finish and feel more expensive than brushed finish

Good job 👍🏼 I normally cut the cloth in quarters as it’ll last longer, also it’s advised to wear surgical gloves as there’s high toxicity in the cape cod . But your watch is well polished 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@WatchTWM4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Karl! Funny you mentioned that because I normally chop it up too, but I definitley should be wearing some gloves though, if I stop posting you'll know it's because I died from the cape cod 😂

I just noticed i lost the crown of mine, do shops get that repaired and replaced?
@WatchTWM Жыл бұрын
Did you lose your crown of the actual movement or of the compass rose?

idk the exact term but its main turning knob to set the time

@WatchTWM Жыл бұрын
@@spinachbroccoli3276 You had it right haha I was just wondering because this specific watch has 2, one for the time and one to turn a compass dial. Either way they are definitely replaceable , shouldn’t be more than about $100-$150 but the price varies with brand obviously

If the polish paper turn dark greenish than it means your metal is steel and not any other metal because the wax in the polish react with steels bracelet. If its any other metal it wont react.

How about repairing dent on steel bracelet?
@WatchTWM2 жыл бұрын
Dents give some character and every dent is a story! A little polish here and there is okay in my opinion. Eventually if you want to you can just replace the bracelet but unfortunately Dents are usually deep enough that you can’t easily fix them

It’s a Seiko Alpinist SARB017. It’s discontinued but I bought it for 400USD. They’re probably more expensive now though but absolutely stunning watch
