Good tires will always have some minor brown coating. It’s the wax that is blended into the rubber during manufacturing. It keeps the rubber from getting cracks. The amount of scrubbing you did- about anything would be an effective cleaner.

One tip. Spray the solution on both the wheel & tire. Scrub the tire before rinsing. Only need to rinse the wheel before scrubbing. The tire needs to be sprayed & scrubbed dry. Get more dirt off. Try this next time. I agree in a pinch it works well but I wouldn’t recommend for regular use. Just my humble opinion

April to Nov I use dish soap as windshield washer fluid. Works better than that colored water i used to pay for. Table spoon of soap per gallon of water. Make sure you don't have hard water

Occasionally, I will you Comet bathroom cleaner on very dirty towels. Back in the day, we used it on white wall tires. Dawn is advertised as a degreaser, why would it be different from other degreasers? As long as your mixture is proper?

You're being ignorant now. Bathroom cleaner is ACIDIC because it has to dissolve limescale. Be careful about what you use and how. 🤦

I use Greased Lighting to wash the tires and Pledge furniture polish for a dark flat black look. I personally don’t like a shiny tire. To each his own.

I worked at a body shop during the 70's and 80's. I personally detailed every car/truck painted there. I used Pledge on every tire. There was no Armor All then, besides the silcones in it causes fish eyes in auto paint. The owner never allowed it on the premises.

Using a Degreaser on a petroleum product It will dry out the tire faster than usual

Any well known good kitchen degreasing detergent works just as good as Dawn and is less expensive. I have always used Palmolive for one example.

Not to a major degree like a dedicated panel prep would, but it absolutely will weaken coatings, even if only a little. As well, Dawn is NOT pH neutral. It's around a 9.0 pH which is a bit on the alkaline side.

Don't use it on your paint. It cleans really well if you want to clean the surface for paint prep but that's because it takes off all the wax that is there to protect your paint. The paint will fade over time

Any dish soap strips the paint of any wax! So unless you like to wax your car each and every time after you wash, younare doing harm to your paint finish!!! And you didn't even know it!!!😂😂😂

@@LWRC For what you get out of it, yes. A good cleaning compound/clay to clean down to the paint, then a polish for shine. Wax doesn't prevent rust or make the polish shine last. Nor does keep paint from fading. I can't remember the last time I've seen faded paint....and there's LOTS of people not waxing their car..

You seem to have missed the point of care soap / auto shampoo, which is to minimize scratching the paint. Of course, if this is no concern to you, by all means continue using dish soap and save some $$.

Why would dawn scratch your wheels.. It's soap..If anything would scratch the wheels it would be the brushes dragging dirt particles.. The tire was pretty cleaned off with the hose alone .. LMFAO.
