Thanks for the info. I ordered a used tcm and installed a new clutch actuator solenoid. Car would still hesitate slightly when shifting in lower speeds. I did the reset method and swapped out the other clutch actuator on the upper. The car drives and shift like its brand new. Just FYI the battery in these cars goes bad and was not sending proper voltage to electronics. And make sure the ground wires to the body have a good connection. I think over a long period of time it makes the vehicle shutter and will harm the actuators.

This works to reset the computer on any car. Clears Check engine lights but if the problems is still there, the light might stay one or come back later. Disconnect the positive from the battery, while discounted, bridge it with the ground. HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT CONNECTED TO POSITIVE! Let is seat for the 10 minutes, maybe less, and that will clear your computer codes... This is for any car.

This is the first video where the positive cable is disconnected then used to reset. All other videos i have watched so far disconnected the negative cable to use for reset. Does it matter which is used between the two? On one of the videos i watched the person had mentioned something about effectively draining any residual power if the parts were still holding power on the positive side.

I was just curious. I thought we should remove the negative first. By removing the negative cable first eliminates the chance for the positive terminal to throw that spark or arc because the battery is no longer grounded to the car.

I have a question, hoping you can help. I have a 2006 ford five hundred that needed the ceu replaced, i bought two first one i was told was faulty. The other one was installed by mr transmission, and he said my keys had been reprogrammed also. But that it was still showing a bunch of codes, i am lost on what to do because my car has been at this shop for over a year only to be told i now need to find an aes mechanic that focuses on electrical work. So confused. When i purchased the pieces i was told specifically to make sure after it is installed that a parameter reset must be performed. Is the reprogramming of the keys the parameter reset? Or is those 2 seperate entities? I felt it was 2 seperate things, but mechanic claims he has done all he can. If you have any pointers or good advice, or a solution i would greatly appreciate it.

Darwin will take care of the idiots. With one lead disconnected the battery has no complete path for current to flow. You are trying to drain all residual power from the electronics by taking the positive lead to ground.

I have a 2014 Ford Escape with the dual clutch transmission. I cleared the KAS or KAM I believe its called. And it shifted good the first day. Second day it went back to shifting hard from 2nd to 3rd gear. I hear you say in this video that this should work better then actually clearing with a high end scanner? Let me know, because i dropped serious money on my scanner and it didn't fix the hard shift

I have a 2012 ford focus. It came up with a P0902 code i fixed both. Kept doing the same thing check engine light on same code. I took it to the shop they said i neded to reprogram it paid 250$ drived it less than 5 miles and everything was good and then check engine light on again it started doing the same thing it drives slow once i hit the 20mph it has like a little jump and then i hit 40mph and a small jump again. Does this mean my pcm is bad??..I have never changed it or reprogrammed it either. 😞😞

How many miles do you have on your focus and when did you start noticing problems? I have a 2012 SEL with 80k on it and I was wondering if I should sell it while I can still get decent money for it, or take it past 100k since I do have an extended warranty? My issue is the tire pressure system, they lose air regularly even though the tires are new. I've changed some of them a few times, and I know that might have something to do with it - do you know what could help? New rims or maybe there's a way to adjust the tires so they don't leak as much? I've also heard a little nitrogen in them helps them keep their pressure.

The previous owner changed the PCM 2 times. I changed it once. If I do the math correctly I believe at 50,000 miles on it. When I had the problem it was at over 150,000 Miles on it. It can't say if you should sell your car that is up to you. I sold mind

Hector, I have a 2003 Ford Focus 2.0L SE. The battery light came on. Thought it was alternator. I realized the connection to the alternator had some corrosion. I repaired it and still battery light was on. I replaced alternator and changed serpentine belt. Still have battery light. Checked all the fuses everything good. I'm not sure if resetting the TCM would solve the problem but if it was me I would try it. Also if I remember correctly one of the battery terminal has a fuse. I would check it.

Does anyone know how to reset all codes for a 2013 Ford Fusion. I had a coolant leak and my car overheated on me on my way to work so i pulled over and let it cool down after it cooled down I took my car home and it was driving fine until I fixed the leak in the hose now my car doesn’t want to stay on and sounds like it’s taking on to much air but my brothers friend who knows about cars told me I need to reset to codes in the car cause when it overheated my car went into some safety mode so my Engine wouldn’t break but now I can’t use the car cause it doesn’t stay on and I need it to work. Will this solve an unstable voltage? I changed the battery on a MK3 with start stop but when the car is running I have voltage shift between 12.6.- 14.2 and when the engine is stopped and the car closed, it shifts between 0 and 12.4. For second stays at top and then goes to 0 for one second and back up. is that ok?

This trick also works on Australian Ford FG Falcon( and possibly SZ Territory) when the Air Con stops working after low battery voltage during cranking. The other solution is to get a higher capacity battery like 680CCA (replacing the 550CCA standard one)

@@NoneMechanic101 well I called ford and they're like "all I see is a recall for a door latch" but I'm not the original owner of this car but it only has 60,000 on it. Like first issue was starter issue. But the starter was fine I tested it. Like I'd turn it on in the morning no problem it starts, runs fine, but if I wait 20 minutes it won't turn on for 3 hours or so. That issue was first and still is an issue. Then this traction control light came on and the option disappeared off my freaking menu!!! Like I'm so pissed off man. Idk why it's doing this

These cars are Dual Clutch. They act like manual transmission. I believe that's the way it suppose to be. It's a different story if it was happening all the time.

My Ford Sport Trac has been "revving" ...the tachometer will go above 3000 rpm w/o the truck actually accelerating. I have to take my foot off the gas pedel and let it slow down then go back to the accelerator. Sometimes the "wrench" light will come on and I've had the traction control kick in for no reason a couple of times. Other than that the truck drives fine. I'm scared it's just going to crap out all the sudden though.

If you hook the negative to the positive on the battery, you will get Sparks and melt that small wire instantly. If not more big problems.

I removed the battery to clean corrosion off the terminals. Replaced the battery and cables,, car was dead. Followed your instructions and it started working again. Better than before, just like you said! A few days later, was dead again. Fully charged battery. Repeated this procedure but this time when I reconnected the battery I got a snappy spark! Got in, turned key, everything in the car started flashing and beeping and seemed to reset everything randomly. Turned off key, removed key, got out, closed door and radio turned itself on all the warning lights and chimes started going off, sounded like the transmission was shifting itself. Thank goodness it hadn't started because I didn't have chocks or parking brake on! Car's dead now, fully charged battery, repeated the procedure again, now no response. Hmmmmm. Suggestions?

These car are problems. If isn't one thing is the other. Ford should have taken them out the road a long time ago. Did you get the new up date on the PCM? I believe Ford updated the PCM

@@NoneMechanic101 thanks for getting back to me so quickly. This is the first I've heard of an update on the PCM. Had the car in 6 months ago when the transmission control module failed. We bought car used with 18k miles about three years ago from a Ford dealer who added a warranty on the transmission long enough that it didn't cost us anything. It had 65k on it when it broke. I went in with it and sat for it to be fixed, bought lunch (before it went in the shop) and supper (after it got out) for the tech who fixed it, he said he checked the transmission itself and it looked good, was just the electrics. He also said he updated everything, whatever that meant. So if the PCM update was in the past 6 months, I don't have it. Thanks again!

Michael Inflorida what you heard was the electronic throttle body probably. My car started doing everything you mentioned, put a new alternator in as well as new positive battery cable. Fine now!

This does not work for a 1.6 in a 2012 Ford Fiesta I saw this on another Chanel the codes stay and lights stay on , I have traction control and another with car picture , as well as abs and check engine light , car runs fine , bought a code reader and it only clears check engine light once then 2nd time you start it check engine comes back other lights won’t clear

I dont know, but if it didnt fixe it, it will not hurt the car. But shorting the negative to the positive of a circuit without battery in it, in this case circuit is the car, meaning no current flow, i dont know man, it will not do anything. In your case, It seems like removing the positive battery for a while and then reconnecting it back fixes or reboote the PCM, that is the only explanation. Because a circuit withouht current in it meaning battery in it, it is just like dead circuit, shorting anythimg on a dead circuit will not do any harm or good to it.

When the Throttle is changed the car takes a while to reset. But if it was me I would do the reset method.

Thank you for this tutorial. I tried this reset in hopes it would help with my turbo charge sensor A Error. The sensor has been changed twice. The computer reset didn’t solve the problem. Taken this 2013 Ford Escape 5 times to the shop in a year and they localized it to the computer needing replacing.

@@tirewacom We changed the Computer, however it needed to be paired with our 2 Key Fobs. We got a locksmith to do that for us. He got Keys paired, but unfortunately, the problem still persisted. Utimately after 5 times taken it to the shop, and 1 time replacing the copmuter, all in a year a half of owning the car (Nov 2019 - May 2021), I gave up on the vehicle and sold it off to a service called VROOM and took what they offered me even with the check engine. I then bought a Toyota 2015 RAV4 shortly, couldn't be any happier.
