If you on a tight schedule, just pop out the CMOS battery and use the battery's body to short the +- pins on the motherboard for a few seconds.

so helpful, I tried to change my BIOS settings for Core Control as my CPU cores were stuck at 2, changing the system configuration didn't work, so I booted into BIOS and changed something that I thought broke my pc as it wouldn't boot. Found this video and my cores are now at 6 instead of 2 and booted my PC normally

My main issue is that when i unplug the power cord, i still get same issue. And the date and time change to 00:00hrs. Can you guide me what should i do. It would be grateful if you could help me out please. Thanks in advance. 🙏

I have an MSI X470 Gaming Plus MAX, and I tried to manually boost my ram mhz from 3200mhz to 3600mhz as that is the maximum that it can go to (according to corsair vengeance pro which was obviously wrong or something idk) after I did that I saved in the BIOS and restarted PC (didnt build this PC my friends sister did and I have never built a PC before so when this happened I was SCARED, and deathly anxious, looked up on reddit that all I needed to do was clear my cmos, didnt know what that meant to so I dived deeper into the internet) and it was black, just black, and apart of my motherboard right below the RAM was constantly red, I was like, oh no, I broke my PC (lol), anyway the type of motherboard I have actually has a button on it at the very bottom near the rear end called CMOS_2 and I clicked that for what seemed like a lifetime, just so I done it correctly, after that everything was fine, but then I went into task manager and saw that my ram speeds were down to like just over 2200 mhz, so I went back into BIOS and just put on game mode and xmp profile 1... and it went back to 3200mhz. I honestly think some component companies lie about how much you can push certain hardware, or maybe it was because I have a semi - modular PSU and the CPU may have been taking up most of the power so that the RAM couldnt go to 3600mhz as advertised on corsair ram. I never needed to do what you said in the video, just a button and solved. If anyone has a MSI X470 Gaming Plus MAX and needs help finding this button then I will be glad to help you, its much easier than doing it this way.

If you don't have a Clear CMOS button on the back of your MSI I/O panel, they also have a "JBAT" jumper pins on the inside at the bottom Back 10+ years ago when I would do overclocking I would leave the CMOS battery out until I got a perfectly stable OC. If it hung up, all I needed to do was flip the power switch and hold down the power button to reset it. Then pop it back in when I was done 👍
