I have a 2005 Ford Escape limited 3.0l v6 as well, limited income as well. I had a bad alternator had to run on it for like 4 days in the two weeks I was waiting to get my disability income and the battery started to over charge and boil and throw fluid. So I exchanged the battery I bought and had to wait for the person to put the alternator running with bad alternator still and new battery for like a week. Now that I got my alternator installed it is still wanting to over charge and boil the battery. Any ideas on what I could or should do?? Sitting in a gas station parking lot until I get money again to repair my vehicle/my home. Watching many videos to try and help myself get this problem fixed. If you have any ideas of what I should do I would be grateful. Also I have tried the battery reset already. Thank You and have a Blessed Day. :0)

Using the "tow/haul" mode is still a good idea for the longevity of your trans if you are hauling wieght. I was told by a career trans co. owner/race car guy, rebuilder(he did all the law enforcement vehicles in the area)so.....well experienced, that having the choice he would never use the Overdrive on unless he was empty and then press it on once up to highway speed. It uses more fuel/gas no doubt but the trans does not suffer nearly as much. My 96 f250 4x4 wieghs in at nearly 7000 lbs empty. You can feel the difference in torque with it "off" I'm sure.

I find myself going through this each time I change my oil and clean my MAF sensor after cleaning my CAI filter. You were 100% correct that the problem I was having with MPG was 100% related to the oil coming from the aftermarket CAI filter after cleaning and re-oiling. The excess oil from the aftermarket air filter had put a light coat of oil on the very thin and sensitive MAF sensor wires/resistors. There wasn't wasn't much filth on the sensor but it was enough to cause my poor MPG issues. Cleaning the MAF sensor, the Throttle Blade and Seating Area combined with redoing this super easy reset of the PCM's stored vehicle adaptive learning settings has restored my MPG to 14-16 MPG from the 11- 12 MPG that I was getting prior to these cleaning and resetting procedures. I have replaced 3 PCMs on my 2012 Ford Flex SEL AWD and have been stumped by the error codes that show up for each. Also, the companies who provided the PCMs were stumped as well. In short, I replaced this final PCM and got a check engine light right ooff the bat. When I drove it, the SUV wouldnt get out of 2nd gear. I followed the steps in the video and the check engine light is off and the SUV is shifting as it should. Also, my previous PCM had a speed differential of 3 MPH less than actual. First off I have to thank you for posting this video. I have an 07 Ford Edge one of the coils burnt up and I guess trashed the PCM as well. Had a mechanic that basically runs a shop out of his home ship the PCM off to be repaired and flashed got it back transmission issues hard shifting etc. So he then took it to a Ford dealer to be flashed again. Transmission still hard shifting. Shipped PCM back to be repaired again and still the same transmission issues. Took it to aFord dealer to have it diagnosed they said it was an internal issue with the in transmission. I still didn't believe that because after driving it a few times the shifting pattern changed if that makes sense instead of hard shift it was more of a longer shift. That might be what you guys call slipping not sure. I then put the Lucas transmission fix in it and it was shifting way better. Went ahead and tried disconnecting the battery cables for 30 minutes after doing some research online to try to reset the PCM that way. Did basically everything in your video that you recommended except for the alligator clips. Did the test drive the shifting pattern is again back to the way it was when I first started driving it after the repairs, hard shifting. I'm going to try your suggestion in the video using alligator clips. So frustrating I'm a female and trying to diagnose this myself is absolutely crazy!!!

How do you use the 12 test light instead of the jumper wire
@carl38203 жыл бұрын
@@tashaelizabethgooden211 you place the 12v tester on both terminals just like he did with the wire but when you use the test light it will light up because of the power that’s stored in the PCM and capacitors. As the caps discharge the light will start to dim and fade away. Once it fades to off you know your caps are discharged. Same goes for many electronics. When installing fuses into things like car audio amplifiers. To avoid the initial spark you can apply the test light in the same way and power the caps inside the amplifier so when you install the fuse you won’t get that quick ark and spark. ✌️

Just wanted to Sincerely Thank You for your vid. After 3 different Ford dealer visits, none of the techs "couldn't duplicate the problem" on the trans issues on my 2017 Edge 6 cyl. Now the trans is shifting like it should. Thanks again!!!

I have had cars that were being difficult. Leaving it unhooked for 24 Hrs has always worked for me. I also cycle the key on a few times before I hook it up. I have four fords and I can say for sure they do learn and you have to drive them the way you drive. Don't leave out 96 and up because 95 and below can be cleared just by unhooking the battery for 30 min. If your ford is a family car don't get mad if the computer is confused. Grandma drives very differently from Grandson. Anytime I get a loaner back it acts very differently for about a week. I have one right now that is pissing me off. It is a beautiful car and every time I turn around it needs something.

when you say pre 95 can be reset by unhooking the battery, do you mean both terminals or just the Negative? thanks

Many Thanks! Question, since the idle circut seems to be directly affected by AC pump drag, should the AC be running while vehicle is relearning idle values, or is it already set up to compensate automatically? Thanks, Joe

Could really use your knowledge here. I have an 04 f150 5.4 that was running great until I did a routine oil change. When I started it up right after, it had a check engine light and was running rough and started trying to stall at stops. Took it to auto zone and was told it was the vct solenoids, so I replaced that, still had the check engine light and was told it was now the cam positon sensors, replaced those and was running worse. Found your video on resetting pcm, did that and still running rough at idle and even worse with loss of power when I put it in gear and try to drive it. I installed a new MAF and coil packs with no luck of emprovement. Did a smoke test and no vaccum leaks found, checked pcv and it seemed functional. Any ideas.? Fyi the truck has just over 200,000 miles on it.

I think people are misunderstanding this video. If you have a bad transmission, then replace it with new or rebuilt, you need to reset your ecm,pcm,computer so that the bad curves that it has saved will not be used on your new transmission- thus causing a good transmission to act just like your old bad transmission. Resetting your ecm,pcm,computer does NOT FIX current problems with your sensors, airbags, engine or transmission. Those issues must be traced down to their source, bad grounds, skinned wire, mechanic failure, etc and fixed....then.... you reset your computer, ecm, pcm (all the same but different names).

an even quicker way to do it is to disconnect the positive side as well from the battery and run the jumper across the positive and negative cables. If there's enough slack you can even touch the positive and negative cables together once they're disconnected from the batteries. On vehicles with two batteries make sure you disconnect the cables from both batteries. Doing it this way drains the capacitors in about 60 seconds or less.

Hello, love your videos and you are a huge help. My '94 T-bird 3.8 liter V6, supercharged engine turns over but won't start. It is a professionally rebuilt engine from machine shop with many new parts such as camshaft position sensor, crank sensor. The camshaft synchronizer is installed in the correct position at 26 degrees ATDC of the compression stroke. Has 40 psi at the fuel rail, has spark at the spark plugs, has 12 volts at the fuel injectors and compression is 145 to 155 on all six cylinders. All wires and grounds between the PCM and engine were checked and are good. It seems to be the fuel injectors are not being activated since I have compression and spark and fuel pressure. I'm thinking the injectors are not being activated, but not sure. Will this method clear the PCM for the engine also? Thank-you.
