I have watched nearly 40 dog clipping videos and yours is the only one that mentioned clipping till the chalkiness disappears to a hollow black spot. You answered some questions for me also about 5- 6 weeks ago. This technique has helped me so much. Still have a ways to go on a nail or 2 as far as getting the quicks trained back but a very noticeable improvement already.

By far the BEST video showing how to clip black nails on a dog! Let's not forget, Patty.... She was such aGOOD DOG throughout the whole process and a dog showing calmness like that while being clipped and at the same time being filmed tells me she's grown to trust you as her groomer and her owner must feel very good about that. It's hard to find a groomer that takes the time to genuinely now the dog personally and I think you've done great for a groomer.

Minnie,Jeez! that is one of the nicest comments,we have ever received .Thank You so much for noticing our effort..Patty is such a dear dog to us,and believe it or not,was not to fond of having her nails clipped, when she first started coming. Yup, like everyone else has already said; This is best most, informative video on the topic of trimming black nails! THANK YOU!! My current little dude doesn’t really need to see a groomer with his barely there, very short coat and basically bald underside, it’d be a very costly and avoidable thing if I could be confident enough to trim his nails back myself without being worried about hurting him. As of now our vet does it, but even that becomes costly at $25 a visit, which theoretically should be about once a week, accumulating to about $100 a month. If I could just confidently do it myself I could save that money and spend it on more things for him instead, like the sweaters he needs in winter due to his sparse coat and basically bald underside 😂 After having dogs for decades, this is actually the first time I’m actually having to deal with nail trimming as this cool dude is our first ever little dog. Unfortunately, he’s not heavy enough to grind his own nails down on pavements walks like our previous large breed dogs did naturally. So I’ve turned to pros like you for help. And like I said, this has been the first video with a tutorial that affords a crystal clear visual with the addition of you narrating to share your indispensable expertise in a way that is easy to follow for everyone no matter what skill level. Again, thank you so much! ♥️🐾

Awesome video. What I liked is that you showed exactly what to look for as you were progressing. Often one finds videos, where people claim to show the how, but then they don't. So one ends up watching a drawn out video that goes on and on and on and by the end, nothing was learnt by the viewer. Those ppl piss me off, because they only create clicks with their clickbait headlines & tag you along just for the views. In the end, people watch those videos, attempt to do it themselves & end up hurting the dog. Then some poor groomer has to sit with the consequences of dealing with a dog that is now scared & then gets aggressive because of that inexperienced interaction. Here though, you showed exactly how to do it & what one has to look out for. Thank you for that

Oh thank you so much for this! I've watched so many instructables, read numerous articles and still I'm scared to trim my toy breed puppy's black nails. I hit the vein once which made my (and my pup's!!) fear even worse. They are regularly overgrown and I have also started using an electric file instead of clippers as the sound of the clipping also freaks out my dog. She's much better with the file. With your extremely detailed and helpful video I think I'm now much more confident to trim those nails next time. Which should really be today! You really did an excellent job in showing where exactly is the vein, how it really looks like. Most of the other videos and pictures I've seen have still left me puzzled and unsure of how it looks like. Thank you so much and kisses and a tail wag from Penny the pup too!! 🤗❤️

Grooming By Rudy I adopted from a friend's Mother who had just found out she was terminally ill with cancer. He had been at the kennel almost three months. I got a text from my best friend right before the sermon usually started on a beautiful September Sunday. The daughter had asked if anyone knew someone who was looking for a small dog. Others friends at church that day...( I had a bad cold) ...blew up my phone with texts. The most surprising one was from the pastor. He reminded me of God's purpose for me. That was four years ago this past September.

Love how you handled Patty with such care! My border collie x Husky mix has the “dreaded black claws” too. Always a bit nerve wracking doing a trim.
