I kind of feel ripped off @88beats . I purchased the publishing tunecore and when I went to begin to try and register my beats in the compilation manager it was confusing. It asks to list the song name ? Do I put what my beat is called? Or what the artist who purchased the beat plans to call it? It wants performing artist name? Do I put my producer name or the artist who is going to use it? What if the beat hasn’t been purchased yet ? Who am I putting ? It wants an isrc number ? All I have is the BMI work number and Iswc number . This to me looks like what the artist is suppose to use not the producer . So unless you didn’t just puersuade 100s of producers to purchase tunecore in order to drive sales, can you please make a follow up video on how to actually register the beat step by step with the view point of the beat has just been made and not already purchased by an artist. @theprezenz4 жыл бұрын
Other question: How should we use content ID if we upload our beats on YT and lease them on Beatstars? Some producers (like dj pain1) don't put CID on their beats cause the moment an artist uploads a song with a beat of them (using an agreggator to put CID on it) the producer will get a copyright claim on his own beat on YT. That way the producer knows who have used his beat and can reach out to the artist and check if he has purchased a license or not. But in this case he can't monetize views of that song with his beat. Or should we put CID on all our beats first before we upload it on YT? In that case the artist gets the claim, whether or not he bought it. You can monetize his views if he didn't bought the beat or whitelist him if he bought it. I don't know, what do you recommend?

@theprezenz4 жыл бұрын
Very interesting to see this procedure as my PRO from Belgium doesn't seem to have this option. Now correct me if I'm wrong. 1. I came across several videos from DJ pain1 who's saying that there's no problem registering your beats with a PRO but there's no point either. As PRO's are intended to collect performance rights, changes are pretty small that your beat will get performed on radio, television, clubs, restaurants, public venues etc... What's your opinion about that? Am I missing something? 2 So from the moment the artist adds the work registration number of your beat when he's registering the song on BMI, BMI can make the link with your beat in their database, right? 3 if the artist fails to do that and won't reply on your mails, is it necessary to use a dmca takedown or let your publishing company handle this case?

If I lease a beat from a composer, and in their agreement it says they own 100% publishing, does this mean they own 100% publishing of Just the instrumental beat or does that mean they own 100% publishing of the song you create using their leased beat? If they do not write the lyrics, melodies, mix and master the "new song" what would they own as far as publishing?

I think you have to buy this beats exclusively in terms of getting your release officially out and then for publishing deal will be 50-50% for writer and composer (also mention as writer on paper work). Look, if you are making an exclusive deal then % are totally depends on the other party you are making deal with so carefully read the whole papers or get a lawyer to read the agreement so you won't make any bad decisions. i hope this helps! i'm also a producer. you can follow me on insta for instrumentals - @platinumboyka.

Ive got a question. So if a rapper buys your beat and they want to register the song with a PRO and lets say they are with BMI, how would you be able to be apart of the registration and collect royalties if your with ASCAP? On both the songwriter and pub side
@official88beats5 жыл бұрын
You would upload the works on your end and if using BMI your total splits available is 200% at that time you’d put composer at 100% or whatever you agreed on. On his end he would register the works as the song writer at 50% (ascap uses 100% max splits) Add your works as close to the performance dates as you can, don’t do it after cause then you will miss out on some money.

I've done royalty-free music for last year and also some Electronic Music tracks I released later using Distrokid. All of these works were registered on BMI. Distrokid have helped me with the store sales and streams and that was it. At this point, I'm considering producing and leasing beats, and as I'm gathering the much info as I could before drawing a plan of action, I might want to add those previous works to the Tunecore Publishing database. Dope info. Questions! So a lot of producers lease beats and in the contract say that the beat can be for profit. For profit for physical sales, and ALSO streaming sales? How do you allow a person who leased your beat to profit from streaming. Or allow it to be monetizable by them, when you're automatically setup with your own PRO and Pub. Agency? Is there options to permit leasers to monetize to a certain extent, without relying on their honesty? Do you get notified then can permit monetization to a person who leased your beat? Like some producer contracts suggest.. Is this a bad business model? Any insight is appreciated! You seem to be the most knowledgeable on YT about this shit ✌🏼 Do you say in the contract something like " track can be monetized if you split the ownership 50-50, or how does that work? I overthink and seem confused.
@official88beats4 жыл бұрын
This is because they don’t understand what they are selling. Quick answer they are wrong. All my beats i lease are for demo use only and SoundCloud non profit, just testing tracks. Most producers just say use for streaming etc. which is ok but if they protect it and you can’t then you are entitled to your money back. This leasing game has gotten very bad.

Hi, Thank you so much for sharing this infos. Respect you so much. I have a question. what do you use to track your beat data?
