My advice would be, watch all the influencers, collectors, and all of that as much as you want, but only take away their advice, do not blindly follow buying whatever they say. They can help you learn the INS and outs, but you want to find what you love to collect & have fun going after what you really enjoy having in your collection! Thank you Jay @mojosports for everything you're doing for the hobby & the kids bro! Keep Going!!

I'm a set builder. When I was young, buying cards was a reward from my grandfather for doing good deeds, getting good grades, and helping him carry food from the farmers market every Saturday. After putting the food in the car, we would go to the local department store and get a 25 cent Topps jumbo pack. At different times of the year, the packs would be for different sports. We would then go home, open the pack together, put them in numbered order with the other cards, and neatly store them in shoeboxes. Since he was a coin collector, I learned to treat my cards gently. To this day I have fond memories of collecting cards with my grandfather.

I just started collecting after acquiring over 200,000 sports cards. I'm learning every hour as I sort and organize these cards. I'm realizing that there are cards and players I want to keep personally and then cards I would like to get graded to sell or hold. This video made me think about why I want to spend time and money and what I will prioritize. Thanks!

PC is why I’m back into it. Just started back after 30 years and was inspired by Ohtani’s 50 50 pursuit and bought the Topps now. After I received them the bug kicked in along with the Dodgers winning the World Series. Slowly started collecting more Dodgers, along with 49ers and Warriors. Now with KZbin and running into videos like yours has helped me with knowledge getting what is personally more valuable to me.

I’ve been in and out of the hobby since I was around 13 and I’m 19 now. I’m just starting to get back in and the last time I left I sold everything so I’m starting fresh right now. My advice to any new collector would definitely be collect what YOU like. I know I enjoy collecting Rookie Cards as many people do, but I don’t care if it’s the rarest or the biggest dud, I just love that rookie card logo. It isn’t about how much the card is worth if you solely enjoy collecting. Happy collecting to everyone out there! I’m so glad to be back in the hobby!

Kid from the 90s junk wax era here. It didnt matter back then it was pure love for the hobby. You had/have your favorite teams and players and thats who you grab. Does the collective get a little overwhelming yes but then you refocus and remember who you want to go after. Been trying to sort through my collection right now and the pure joy of seeing cards you forgot you picked up is such a rush. Dont let anyone tell you this player or that player start small with a pc then go to the flip to fund the pc.

From someone that started collecting when I was growing up in the mid 80’s through mid 90’s I accumulated so much bulk of sports cards that I have had to store over the years. Recently I have gotten back into the sports card collecting again with the hopes to get my son into the hobby also. As I spent over 2 months going through what I had from growing up to pull what I wanted to keep as a PC moving forward I realized I don’t want to keep everything I had so that I can keep growing my PC. With all of the stuff that I didn’t really want I have distributed it between 3 of my friends to give to their boys to also try and get them into the hobby as well. Now that I have done that I have decided to streamline my focus to a small specific set of players for each sport that either mean something to me from growing up or new favorite players now and anything that I have RAW my plan is to have the best versions of that player graded to put away as a long term investment for my kids later on in life. I do still keep organized boxes of RAW cards of my PC players of cheaper cards but only because I like the card when going through budget box pulls at shows, etc. As I pull packs and have all of the base cards that I don’t want to keep for my PC, etc I have been putting together packs for kids that I see at shows. When I see a little kid at a show I ask them what is their favorite sport and hand them a pack of cards followed by “I hope you enjoy the show and the hobby”.

Great video and message. Collect 1st, invest 2nd (if at all). I started collecting in the junk wax area starting around 87, we didnt rip packs back then to look for autos and relics to sell, we opened packs looking for our favorite players, rookies and all star cards. Just hot my middle daughter in to collecting, with the price of packs these days, she decided to put together a 78 topps set since she likes the older card styles and 78 is reasonably affordable. Its great seeing her sort through boxes looking for higher quality cards for her PC set. The allure of getting that major hit ripping packs is also apealing, i just hope the packs/boxes/etc. come down a bit in price (or start to guaruntee better returns) so that kids can afford to collect again.

You are one of the guys, that got me collecting card's again. Best advice I could give a rookie, would be make sure you buy the best clear penny sleeves. And Top loaders. Just because there cheap with the price, doesn't mean there good for your card's. Invest in good plastics, spend extra if you need too. Don't make that mistake. Especially if you have O.C.D. Lol The #1 brand, sometimes not the best too put your card's in. Wish someone would of told me first. Live and learn.

Love the comments on PC. First of all, I'm a scout and have my own group of Ole Miss Baseball fans called Swayze Crazies at Ole Miss. I'm also a bit of a Baseball collector snob, if you will.. I am rarely interested in anything except for players that I have scouted and watched play personally unless they are some GOATS. Most recently, Tim Elko, Hayden Dunhurst, Jacob Gonzalez, Jackson Ferris, Calvin Harris, and Kemp Alderman are guys that I have spent some time with while at Ole Miss and continue to follow their pro careers. GOATS from Ole Miss are Jake Gibbs, Don Kessinger, and more recently Zack Cozart and Lance Lynn. I love autos as well. They garner most of my attention. I also collect auto baseballs. Besides my Ole Miss Collection I have Nolan Ryan, Hank Aaron, Cal Ripken Jr, Ozzie Smith and more. Love what you're doing and keep needing out with me on these personal collections.

After watching some MLB sports card breaker videos on KZbin and talking between each other I recently had the pleasure of watching my little boy open his 1st ever box of sports cards. Mojo, I made a mental note to collect Luka Garza when he made it to the NBA. He was one of our best players in our history of the University of Iowa. I was stupid at first to think to start ripping packs, but the best decision I made was just to buy his singles. He doesn't have the best stock but that doesn't matter to me because collecting a GOAT from Iowa is all I care about. Dude's a Hawkeye legend so that's why I collect him. Thanks for speaking truth about the hobby.

My advice from collecting cards for over 30 years is treat every card like a treasure. Protect the condition at all costs! A no value card can become a very valuable card in time... the most minty examples will command premiums. Wash those grubby paws before touching the collection.

I would have to say collect what your most passionate about. Me, I've stuck with Basketball cards since the 80s. I remember a collector asked me, " What sport is your passion and I said Basketball, and he asked why? I said because I play the sport and Love everything about it. He said Awesome, so just collect that. Do not collect Baseball, football, nascar, etc. Collect what you know and Love and that's what I've done all these years.

My advice would be to never stop. And keep them safe. I say it because I stooped around 95 and I hate that I did. And the second reason was because all my cards were stolen from me. And the ones I do have are in terrible condition. I see people and there cards and I can only say. “Man I used to have that”. And def collect a specific team or player. I’m from Detroit so I loved my lions. Barry sanders was my player. I gave up once my cards were stolen and they don’t sell cards in retail stores in Georgia where I live now. But I loved anyone from Oakland A’s when I was younger

The best advice you gave me was to avoid wax and buy directly what I want. It sounds simple but when I got back into the hobby all I wanted to do was rip packs and boxes and I would be so depressed because there is little to no ROI and then you have to ask yourself why do i collect and that's really where the PC comes into play. I am a Packers and Dodgers fan so when I would pull those cards I would always put them aside and top load them and a lot of times they would be the cards I was most excited about even more than my relics or autos, So i just started spending my money ONLY on like Rodgers and Kershaws, You know the stuff i specifically wanted. I found one of my biggest loves is to find cheap autos of former players for my teams. Now I have almost 400 Rodgers cards, 300 Kershaws, 30 Dodgers autos and about 20 Packers autos and now I love my collection. I only buy a PC when I go to shows because I know I will leave happy guaranteed. That's not to say you shouldn't buy wax because i get the thrill of it or if you have young children but honestly just put that money toward what you love or at least a nice card you might be able to make some money on in the future. Thanks MoJo.

I am getting back into the hobby although I havent bought anything yet as I want to do research prior to getting in. during your video I wrote a list of what i want in my PC: Lakers Austin Reeves Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Angels Tim Salmon Shohei Ohtani Mike Trout Anaheim Ducks Teemu Selanne Trevor Zegras Los Angeles Rams Cooper Kupp Puka Nakua Sean McVay Kurt Warner Just some of my PC peeps! Thanks again for your knowledge cant wait to get into the hobby more to trade and connect! -Brent

My advice would be collect what you like. That way if they drop in value you still have cards you like and enjoy owning.

Just getting started here. Had an old collection that was given to me when I was younger that I lost in the Camp Frie. Just recently bought a Patrick Bailey graded rookie card, and decided I wanted to build a collection for my two young boys to go through as they get older while hopefully finding some gems along the way as well. Looking for info on getting started and where to go from here.

I love this video makes sense to me. I pc Charles Barkley for his playing style, Shaquille because he’s from the city I was born in, Allen Iverson for his all around style, and Anthony Edward’s because I feel like he’s the next goat
