Thank you Javier, it's taken forever to get these two finished but I hope they are helpful.

Amazing tutorial. What about the shadow, highlights, and level slider in filmic pro when you select log v2? Do you ever adjust those before recording?
@RichLackey5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Eli, I have to admit I don’t change those sliders at all. Most of my work revolves around trying to minimise variables that affect how the image is recorded. Maybe I am missing out on something but I don’t touch the shadows, highlights and levels sliders. However, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t, I just haven’t experimented with them. 🙂

Is it better to shoot in log or Dolby vision ? For highest level cinema purposes ?
@RichLackey2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jarren, log is designed to maximize the useable encoded image information for post production, so if you want to color grade, that’s your best starting point. DolbyVision is not intended for post production color grading, instead it’s intended for final delivery, for viewing on an HDR display as a final product.

Why is my filmic pro don't have the flat color profile at the side, the options are not even there.

Hi Razif, which phone are you using?

I’ll check with the team, some features are incompatible with some devices, it depends a lot on what the phone manufacturer allows third party apps to access. There is a free FiLMiC Evaluator app for Android devices that will report which features are possible with your device.
@klhonestguide69374 жыл бұрын
@@RichLackey thank u so much. I can use all the features except the color profiles.

Great Video Richard! I want to ask that do you use the DeLOG luts provided by filmic at their official website?
@RichLackey3 жыл бұрын
I don’t use them because I have a different color workflow now than when I made this video, but the method I show here is still correct. If I want to correct using the color chart, I color correct manually aligning everything correctly on the vectorscope. You could use the official deLOG luts before the manual correction, but manual correction is still needed so the luts actually don’t offer anything in this process.
@RichLackey3 жыл бұрын
If you’re not going to manually color correct and shot match, then the deLOG luts are useful, if all you want is a very quick transform to Rec.709 but it will still be uncorrected Rec.709.

I have a samsung s9 plus is it possible to use this on that device? This would save me buying a new camera etc. Please do reply thank you
@RichLackey5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for watching! The easiest way to find out what works and what doesn’t on your device is to download the FiLMiC Pro evaluator from Google Play. It’s free and will tell you exactly what the compatibility is. Here’s the url: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmic.compatibilitytest&hl=en

Hi, I have a S9+ with Filmic and yes all of those settings including changing the colors and profiles are all there

Great, you should be able to use everything then. Unfortunately I don't have access to a S9+ so I can't help very much.

Ok, the cinematographer kit should work at 3K and below, but may not work at 4K. You can use this app to check compatibility. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filmic.compatibilitytest&hl=en

Excellent video - you've got yourself a new subscriber!! One question: is it possible to manually set the shutter speed and ISO and still align with your color managed workflow? For instance, let's say I wanted to shoot 24fps with a 1/48 shutter (to respect the 180° shutter rule). Would this be possible?
@RichLackey5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Jeffrey, I really appreciate that.
@JeffreyEng15 жыл бұрын
@@RichLackey No problem, hard work deserves recognition 😊. Also, do you have any opinion on my question above?
@RichLackey5 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, that’s totally possible but you’ll need an ND filter. I use the PolarPro Iris ND filters if I’m not using a lens on the phone, usually the ND64 or ND128 in daylight. That lets you drop the shutter speed down to 1/48th sec and still maintain proper exposure. If you’re using a lens on your phone (moment, moondoglabs etc) most of them have some kind of an adapter available to use normal round photography filters. I use 52mm ND filters when I’ve got the moondoglabs anamorphic lens on the phone.
@RichLackey5 жыл бұрын
I wrote up a guide to ND filters that might be helpful. www.richardlackey.com/nd-filters-for-iphone-video/

@@RichLackey Awesome, thank you for your ND filter guide! My setup is a Pixel 3 + Freefly Movi + Moment Anamorphic + Moment Filter mount (for 62mm) + Hoya 62mm Solas 6-stop IRND filter. Side-note, it was good to learn about IR pollution and then have comfort in knowing that I coincidentally picked an IRND filter. Do you recommend any specific variable ND filters? Moment recommended this one, because apparently a lot of variable NDs have vignetting issues? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BDMZD5J/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=moment0df-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07BDMZD5J&linkId=7bccc5364498c5ba36d5065ca07d4775
