Beautiful!! I think I would start. From the bottom and then you won’t need to fold the foil.

For sure! I think I’d start at bottom though…. Fold foil over colored, then add another foil for next color…. Repeating to lightest…. Not rolling, just layering flat….. I’ll let you know how it turns out! But, definitely gonna try this! Thanx!

The fur came out looking amazing. I might try this method in the event Rit dye doesn’t work. I plan on making a fur suit this year. Sadly I couldn’t find red or black fur in my area. And it’s too expensive online. So I thought I’d try dyeing white fur to what I want. Did the fur feel funny / dry afterwards? And did you use anything as a sealer for keeping the colors from bleeding onto other things?

You can use this same method, just leave the white alone in the middle. Or, you can go for the gold and try to do vertical stripes. There might be some bleed through but it could look great. I haven't tested vertical stripes yet.

Hi! I bought the Jacquard dyes at your recommendation (doing an ombré glow in the dark rug and I love the ombré gnome technique). My question is; do I need to wash it/soak in soda ash first since it’s faux fur? And anymore tips regarding the procion Mx dyes? I bought the versatex fixer too but would love to return if that’s unnecessary!! My main concern is not ruining the texture. Thanks!!!!!
@SarahNenniDaher
@SarahNenniDaher 5 ай бұрын
I'm just seeing this now, sorry. I didn't wash or soak it in the soda ash but if you're WEARING it, you might want to try a sample to see if it helps with any wear / rubbing transfer of colors. I don't know if that will actually change the texture - it is designed to strip the minerals from hard water, so I would definitely test a swatch.

When u wash the faux fur will this color bleed out??
@SarahNenniDaher
@SarahNenniDaher Жыл бұрын
Yes, most of the color will wash out with this method (and most methods, to be honest) because they are organic fabric dyes. The only 100% color-fast and full-retention color method is made during the manufacturing process but the closest is using the synthetic dye from RIT (or other brands). You can get it on Amazon.

@SarahNenniDaher
@SarahNenniDaher Жыл бұрын
Honestly, buying the fur the color desired is the only way to be sure that the color won't run. It's not a material which absorbs color (such as a natural material like cotton). You can *try* the dye for polyester, however, we've still had some running (and transfer) of color.

@@SarahNenniDaher Theres nothing really what im looking for already out there, so ive been researching into dying it myself. Wouldn't the purchasable coloured fur have been dyed in the factories? Whats the most likely method they would have used?
@SarahNenniDaher

@@ScoutOW2 Gotcha. The fur isn't dyed in the factories - they use colored polymers (colored plastics) to achieve the desired outcome.

Hi there. I'm honestly not sure. Blonde requires lift and shine and there will be a loss of that with most paint / dye methods. You can try a light brown (or even beige), maybe, perhaps mixed with the tiniest bit of yellow? Honestly, I'd buy the blonde fur in a small swatch from Amazon because I'm not sure the color would be right for his hair in any method I know.
