I had a lot of requests to do some sort of shading tutorials, so here is one and it's about how to color and shade when you have no clean lineart to rely on. I hope you like it ♥

Personally, I think the second style with the lineart is the one I'm really drawn to, I mean without the lineart it does look life like and 3 dimensional, but the lineart with that soft color painting style, gives off this sense of sharpness, that really contrasts the soft look of the color that's just somewhat pleasing to the eyes. I love the video overall, and even followed along with it

i was taught to select outside your manual colorblock lines and invert the selection, hit M to go into the marquis tool, then right click on canvas and select Fill... this will open a menu asking what you want to fill it with. Select foreground color and you will be able to fill the entirety of the shape with the color. This prevents any transparent pixels that may exist and is overall a very good flat fill. at least, that's the way my professor taught me.

@oblivionsghost7430 3 жыл бұрын
@@acidiclouds like draw in general or just shade?? If for drawing hair in general watch a couple tutorials as I don't think I can explain that too well If for shading hair I can definitely help! What I recommend doing is parting the large parts or the hair, like dividing them. For example there would be a line (or lines ) dividing the bigger parts of the bangs ((go check out the tutorial on Hillariously scary's Channel she explains it much better)) once you're done that, start making lines that are the smaller thinner strans of hair, make sure the strans flow with the hair, like if the hair was blowing the lines would be more wavy and would move with the hair. What I personally do that I think looks cool, is that once I'm done with doing the strans I go with either a dark color of the hair, or a color with a multiply filter on it on the ends of the hair, basically where the bangs and hair ends, I then blur it and lower the opacity. I also can't recommend this enough, but use references, and maybe try studying how lights and shadows work, and see how hair can look when those things are applied, as in you have a light source in your drawing and it effects your hair. Not sure if I helped at all- but I recommend watching tutorials and other art videos like that for advice--

Kyle's brush pack is only freely available if you have a current Photoshop CC account. There are dupes out there, but they're not quite the same.

Madness Ends i usually make a new layer (clipped to the color layer), use a grey shade and set the layer to multiply! I’ve also seen it been done with black and the layer in soft-light mode!

Madness Ends A tip: when light is warm, the shadows will be cool. So if the light source is yellow, the shadows will be bluish. It makes it pop more.

I know it's been some time but I found the 2 packs of brushes she talks about. The first one is Dave Greco brushes here: gumroad.com/davegreco (3$) And the other one, Kyle's Drawing Box is actually available through Photoshop itself. You have to click on the "get more brushes" in the brush menu. (Free) Hope that helps!
