So ive had this thing for about two months. I play metal and seriously thought about getting rid of it because it couldnt really get me where i wanted to be. After watching this, I see that its just ignorance on my part. This thing does so much more than i realized and YES, if you like a tone, look up what they are using and match it on the mx5. It will be damn close. Thank you for this!

Anyone who uses "congruent" in a YT video about Multi-Effects HAS to get a sub and a Denzel Washington "Mah Man". Best Regards and Best Wishes! Later: Wow! After watching....not a metal player but I dig the tones. Great job! Have to dial those in later today. Thank You!

Thanks for making me laugh and the sub! I appreciate it

I'm very interested in this unit. I'm looking for a smaller unit to gig with. Nice demo. Can you do 2 amps 1 cab? I'd like to run them in series to use up less space, kinda like I do with my L6 Helix, but wasn't sure if it's capable. Thanks! Edit: Should've watched the whole video first lol! I think this video sold me on it. Just what I need.

yes! if memory serves me right (sorry I don't own the unit anymore). There are fixed routing functions and one of them allows you to have two paths in parallel and then combine at the end and you can use the last block as just one IR or Cab.

@@priorwitness Awesome, I think this will give me great bang for the buck and a smaller footprint. Thanks!

Just picked up the prime. Looks like much of what you’re doing would carry over to the prime. Wonder if the presets you’re making would be able to be imported into the prime?
@priorwitness Жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! That thing is a beast though. I can't imagine how big your pedalboard would be with that PLUS effects!

@@priorwitness yeah, the thing is massive! 😂

Hi, are you using the left mono output or left and right using two wires ? Thanks
@priorwitnessАй бұрын
oh I wish I could remember. Haven't owned it now for a while, but I want to say I had everything just coming out the Left Mono jack. For me everything runs into my amp. So mono is good for me. Then when I run to my DAW, it's still mono because I like having mono tracks to manipulate so i have the flexibility to convert to stereo if I need to in there. I just use plugins for stereo effects that I can twiddle with that benefits the mix rather than dealing with what came in via stereo already.

Can you use x2 on pedal section? Just wonder if u can easily use parallel overdrives without using option to split full path like grid with 3 slots for effects. I rarely need more than 1 effect in parallel, and with split i see there's not much room at the end of split

Do i have to go out in Stereo for it to sound like i program it, or will it sound good just mono. For both methods you did
@priorwitness9 ай бұрын
It really depends on what you're trying to do. If you have modulations, delays, or reverb that really benefits from stereo and you're not recording but just playing then yeah I'd recommend stereo. it does sound great out of the box that way. when recording I always go mono since I can pan everything how I want and I can add delays and reverb in my DAW thru plugins.

I am trying to decide mx5 or hx stomp. Help me here hahahahaha Which one and why? TY :)
@priorwitness Жыл бұрын
That is one heck of a comparison! :) One goes for about $300 on the open used market and the other for around $500. So the price differences alone are pretty far apart I think. It really depends what is important to ya. I've owned both. I enjoyed both for what they were. I guess its a discussion a video I could post so I could fill out my thoughts and open it for more discussion for everyone else and their two cents. A quick answer is I guess it comes down to price, amp modeling, and how many effects and options you want at your disposal. They both sound great honestly. Feel wise I liked the switches and responsiveness of the HX better. More bang for your buck is clearly with the MX5. Flexibility and variety is clearly in the HX's favor. I could go on. Great question!

is there an amp switch option to switch between 2 different amps in the same rig?
@priorwitness Жыл бұрын
Real amp switching? Nope. The only external option is for another expression pedal. Switching amp sims within the MX5 to emulate switching channels within one rig can be done via scenes.
@jonwanrocks10 ай бұрын
use the "scenes" feature

can i run a parallel signal chain with an acoustic sim in one and an electric tone in the other to make it sound like 2 guitars?? i can do this with the boss GT1000 and its great
@priorwitness10 ай бұрын
yeah that should work :). The MX5 allows for parallel routing. You could run the accoustic sim pedal on one route and then have the other be something like a deluxe or Princeton

@@priorwitness perfect, thank you for telling me, this will be what i get then because my gt1000 needs repairs and i need a box to replace it with while its in the shop

@darkestfugue as soon as I get internet back up and running from a big move I just did I'll be doing a deep dive into the NUX MG 30. It's definitely a unit I would strongly recommend considering as well.

@@priorwitness thank you, i was taking a look at it but the pedal config doesnt seem to suit me, you seem to only have 2 presets per bank and i cant see how can bank up and down to get to the next one
