Recently took apart and lubed the swing arm and linkage bearings on an S 1000rr and a new R1 , amazing that there is literally no grease on the needle bearings. What a difference in rear suspension performance lubing these bearings. Used to do it on only MX bikes but will now do it on every new sport bike I purchase , highly recommend it. Would make a great video, only about an hour of labor. You would be one of the few that do this. I am a factory trained motorcycle technician that also attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute.
@Skr-gb4hk6 жыл бұрын
Markus Decker good idea we may do that. Always do on my MX bikes. But seeing that they didn’t even grease the axles I bet there is little on the pivot points👍🏻 on this R1. BMW comes greased for sure. I checked

I always install a large hose clamp around the oil filter canister, and then anchor safety wire from the clamp to a stationary point on the engine. This eliminates the possibility of the oil filter working loose. It may seem like overkill until you think about the potential oil slick a loose filter will create for your back tire....the addition of a hose clamp and safety wire on your oil filter is cheap insurance and it will save your life.

that typically just creates a mess, as soon as you start the bike the oil fills that area. The old oil on the parts is more than enough for that second or two.

I could totally work for a shop like that. they know time is money and don't spend 6hrs a day making the shop look like a hospital. I had to quit a job at a dealership over their nagging about cleaning the place. I had work to do, let the service managers clean the place. they let the service managers sit on their ass looking at facebook 8hrs a day and do nothing.
@drhausmannhade35836 жыл бұрын
For the chain you gotta sit on the bike to check the stiffness of the chain cause when theres weight on the bike it automatically stiffens
@trillabp39716 жыл бұрын
no you dont thats what the chain slack is for xD the weight limit translates to what your suspension can handle so if you are within the suspension weight limit and you set up your suspension like you are supposed to then adjusting your chain to spec will be perfect. now if you are on a track that has a crest you get air off off you want to leave it just a tad more loose.
@drhausmannhade35836 жыл бұрын
Alright then thats for this bike cuz im riding an enduro and obvsly its different to a supersport
@trillabp39716 жыл бұрын
@@drhausmannhade3583 yes enduros are on/off road bikes so you need a setup that supports bumps and jumps. usually the manufacture will have different chain slack specifications for enduros.
