FIlling with sand before cutting, that's brilliant! I learned a new trick. Thanks Josh!

You’re welcome. One of the guys at US Saws gave me this trick a few years ago. It works great.

Great video and great explanation 👍. Why don‘t you use silicon for this joints ? Not that I have experience with it, I only thought because it would be more elastic when the concrete moves with time….

Thanks for the compliment and input. This floor will be covered by epoxy and uniformly seamless. Silicone could be used but then the joint would have to be left uncovered. Epoxy doesn’t stick to silicone. While most control joints can be filled and coated, it’s always best to confirm proper procedure with the coating system manufacturer. Thanks again-

@@joshjones8047 👍 ok i understand ! I thought you are going to polish it ! So if you would polish it you would also use silicone ?
@joshjones8047 Жыл бұрын
@@esdrehtsich9289 if it was to be polished, then it would be a polyurea or modified aliphatic urethane. Neither of these products polish the same as concrete, but they blend well enough and maintain good elasticity. A rigid filler would polish better except it would be likely to crack within a year.

What is the full name of your filling? Sorry I am not a professional and I would know the exact name. I wonder if I can use this filling for my concrete pavers (not slabs). I am tired of polymeric sand that always fail after a year or two and weed start growing after. Much appreciated!

The product is called PolyFlex. It’s a modified urethane. While it might work for your application from a performance standpoint, it’s not UV resistant. If left uncovered it will chalk and turn amber/orange. Sorry I can’t help with exterior sealants for your need. Exterior work is not something I have much experience doing. Here’s the product info for your reference: www.smithpaints.com/?ae_global_templates=poly-flex
