Hi, I think that me female betta is pregnant with eggs. I have 0 experience with betta fish and am really looking for some guidance. There was a male and a female in the tank for about a month. The male has died. There is no bubble nest. I have a small house that I bought with the thank that the female does not go in. When she does lay the eggs what will happen?? She only fill the tank half so that when the eggs drop from the bubble nest the male will not have a hard time putting the again. Those are indian almond leaves and its useful but i dont know whats the purpose.

Hey CPC I'm about to start a 15 gallon sorority (2ft x 1ft x 1ft). I've watched your videos and researched it from other sources and everyone seems to have mixed opinions. My tank is well planted (like your tanks) it's been set up for years so its fully cycled. I plan on getting some panda corydoras and maybe some endlers or other small fish. Do you think 5 bettas, 4 Corrys and possibly some other small fish is an alright plan? I will be buying some breeding containers incase I need to separate them quickly and if it fails the fish store will be willing to take them back. Does this sound alright or is there anything in my plan that needs to be improved or changed?

It might be tricky to pull of with 15 gallons. Mine is in a 20gallon and even I have a hard time keeping the girls healthy and not fighting. Usually..bigger is better..and safer. You can still try..but just in case have a backup plan for the other females.

Creative Pet Keeping Alright, thanks for the reply! My back up plan is taking them back to the fish store... Lol. If they don't take them back for some reason I could probably just divide the tank and they will all get 3 gallons since I plan on getting 5. I know that they will accept fish back and I've given some of my platys to them in the past. Also my lfs keeps all their female bettas together in a tank so I'll be able to observe and pick out the more mellow bettas, though it might not be super accurate since I won't be watching them for a long time. Do you think that keeping them in a sorority makes them more susceptible to disease? Do you think that having other fish in the tank helps distract them from fighting with each other. Sorry for the paragraph, I appreciate the advice tho :)

In my experience, I would release the female only after the nest has taken on a cohesive shape and size. To me, the female has to inspects the nest, and if she's not satisfied, she usually will not participate.

Usually breeders recomend waiting two weeks and feeding the male and female heavily and then trying again.
