Yea just to correct you, for your LFE , SUBWOOFER you do NOT need a Y adapter. You simply plug in Sub cable to the L LFE input. Thats it. Because its Mono.

Hey @TampaTec, quick question, would you consider the reference noise loudness to be normal or crazy high? I have a TX-NR696 and when I go to that speaker level calibration section, it starts to "scream" at me and feels little too uncomfortable, now your video is the only one positive find where I seem to hear this ref noise level to be similarly unpleasant to listen to... my question is do you think this is how onkyo intentionally made it? I had another Onkyo AVR, much older than this one, but it wasn't tearing ears appart during level calibration like the new one is, important to say that in both cases the speaker system connected to these two Onkyo AVRs was exactly the same.

I just bought same receiver...some of my cable terminals at the back do not work. My center channel, or the green cable, the two surrounds and the sub out are muted or no sound outputs. I’m using optical audio. I get sound only from my front channels and from the secondary front , or B speakers. Can someone please help

+Rick Zoratto hi there, not really as after lengthy research I found out you need a centre speaker. I tried using the speakers as surround speakers and with some tuning it helped a bit.

@@diesel15155 Any surround or 5.1/7.2 system that isn't a soundbar will require a good center channel speaker. As in a movie theater, the center channel speaker is called upon to handle most of the dialogue and center sounds, it also adds clarity to TV or other type sources, even music, since a lot of times the main vocals are mixed more or less center or just off-center. If you don't use the center channel speaker, the whole system will be out of balance and will really not sound correct and you'll get no vocal or dialogue performance.
