Excellent use of "bereft." Before you even said you weren't sure if you used it correctly, I was coming down here to mention that you have better English vocabulary than a lot of native speakers I know!

I have a very fuzzy idea about "bereft", and I only know the word through Dire Straits lyrics "Looking so bereaved and so bereft", and now through Stjepan. sorry for a random comment :)

This game really help me understand how kings indian really is, black want to play f5 to play e4 and free up his bishop as well as king side attacking, white want to attack on the queen side but in this video Hanging Pawn attack on the king side. Incredible useful vd

The word bereft was very topical in this game, especially in relation to counter-play. adjective: bereft 1. deprived of or lacking (something). "her room was stark and bereft of colour" 2. (of a person) sad and lonely, especially through someone's death or departure. "his death in 1990 left her bereft" Origin

Curious if you've looked into 9.Bf3 instead of F3 in the semi averbakh. It's still advantageous for white while also removing the common counterplay of a rook exchange sacrifice after the well known plan of H5, Nh7, F6, and some future Rf4 and possibly Rxh4 (depending on the variation) which gives Bf3 a lot of good practical application. If black doesn't know the line it's typically better than the F3 line too. There is a really brilliant game showcasing the opening variation by GM Simon Williams against IM Nordahl, Helge in 2005. Unfortunately Simon did slowly let his advantage slip around move 22 resulting in a draw (no fault of the opening).

The KID guy at my club (an NM who exclusively plays it) sort of agrees with your friends. He says it's two things: the Averbakhs (both versions) and the Bayonet attack. He said he thinks the Bayonet is harder to deal with in a slower game as it feels like he never gets anything good and it's mostly suffering if white plays well.

Impressive - had everything your opponent tried to throw at you covered.

That was entertaining to watch. Last game you played your tournament repertoire in the exchange slav, this game you played a surprise weapon b3. Just be sure to not give away any major preparation in your lichess games

I feel like Black had to try to give up the Rook at some point with ...Rf4, threatening e4 and after Bxf4 respond with ..Rxb4+ and get a pawn for the exchange. Not sure at what point though. Black never really came to grips with how bad their position was until it was too late.

I like the semi Averbachk, I think it gives white a lot of chances especially with g4 and short castle.

GG mate, I was wondering, which are the main differences between the semi averbakh and the normal averbakh? Could you suggest me a book about the former? Thanks in advance
