@@dezelvain6682 Sorry this is late. I never ended up buying EZ Drummer, but I did plug it in to some other free drumming VSTs which ended up working great, and worked really well. EZ Drummer should work just as well as those did for me, just far better sounds.

Super sounds! Good job! As a 50 plus year rock drummer, I offer this to you. No need for those heavy drumsticks! 7a are super for electronic kits, especially a small one like the one you have. Ginger Baker always played 7a's. Heavy sticks introduce lag.

Thanks so much for this. I've had a Alesis Surge for the past year, and the stock sounds are just horrible. Maybe 5 useable kits out of all of them and the rest sound like something out of a Miami Vice show. And it's so hard to make the drums and cymbals sound good at all. I have been reading about MIDI software like EZ Drummer but was not sure how to use it. This helps out a lot!

I had some problems with mi Alesis Nitro disconnecting after a while. I bought a new shortes cable. It HAS to have Ferrite Beads and be no more than 1.8 m (6 feet). With that, i just played like 3 hours in a row. I tested like 5 cables.

Thanks for this. I recently got Reaper, EZ Drummer 2, and the Alesis Nitro, so your video is exactly what I needed! Just one thing, which someone else in the comments had the same problem with. Even though the Alesis would trigger the standalone EZ Drummer, and was 'enabled' in Reaper, clicking apply/OK in that dialogue box at 4:30 in the vid gave an error message that the midi device could not be opened. I tried also ticking 'enable input for control messages' and it worked then. But I see you did not tick that, so I wonder if it was that which made the difference. Anyway, thanks again.

Are you able to change the midi notes from within the module? For example, if your drum software recognizes a snare drum as middle C, but your module shows the snare as an A flat, can you change your snare within your module to send middle C data to your host?

Hey great video! I’m having some issues, using Reaper, it keeps me showing an error that says: “The Following MIDI inputs could not be opened: Alesis Forge”. I don’t have an interface so when I select the ASIO Driver I choose “ASIO4ALL v2” is that ok? Thank man!

i dont know if it working without interface, get one is cheap, even if works without interface there would be problem with latency

ASIO4ALL v2 works but you may have to adjust its buffering as low as it will go to reduce the latency.

How do you change the note value for different parts of the kit though? Ive been trying to find a way to change the rim shot to a side stick cause it sounds too harsh. I cant find a way to put the note value into my module tho. Can someone please help?

Explain it like I'm five: Total newbie, having ordered a Nitro kit yesterday. I'm not planning on getting a standalone interface anytime soon, but I see the possibility of me wanting to record a playalong/cover on my computer at some point. I'm unsure if the delay with using the computer directly would matter, if I just wan't to plug in my phone (for instance) via the AUX IN to play some song to drum to....and then set up up the PC connection via USB port and record the entire thing. Isn't that possible and woudn't that mean that a delay doesn't matter?

yes ther is not problem if you play only with the drums sound not with ezdrummer, you can conncet a speaker or amp to the edrums head, if you wan to connet to pc with ez drummer the pc dosent have strong audio proccesor to handle the audio data and you need a audio interface, and will be crash or have latency issues

This seems to be the same for Alesis Chrimson II and Superior Drummer 3. However, after mapping to Crimson I still don't get any sounds from the software to the kit. I can see the image in the app is playing a snare or base drum when i hit those pads but the sound is the same canned garbage. What am I missing here?

Most e-drums have rims that are able to be hit as well -- you could assign anything you like to a rim hit, or the top of a cymbal pad, etc.

Hi, I have alesis crimson 2, reaper daw and interface is focusrite 2i2. I’ve been having latency issue with connecting the drums directly to my pc so I wanted to try different way. In Reaper go to preferences > Device and set the Asio configuretion to 64 samples, the lower you go the better but you must have a good computer with good CPU 6 cores or 8 and 8-16 RAM

Yes its have good sensitivity depending of the price the mesh pads have the feel like true drums you can set up each pad how sensitive you want to be and other settings if you connect it to pc like the video 5:52 you can do more settings with the software

Cool video, but I've been trying this myself with a USB connection to PC and my drum triggers haven't been registering and I don't know why. I've been using the EZDrummer Demo and the Nitro Module appears in the MIDI Devices tab. I've even set the E-Drum tab on EZDrummer to Alesis but I'm still not getting any response in the software when I start playing. If you anything about this, I'd really appreciate some help.

My alesis nitro mesh kit shows up in FL Studio, but when I try to control EZ Drummer 2 with it, the mapping is all wrong. My kick is triggering the high hat and various toms are mapped for cymbals.... and my snare has no sound. Cannot figure it out for the life of me. HELP!!!!

Do you have audio interface? Download and install the asio4all driver, go to Reaper midi devices and enable the nitro drum kit

Thank you for this detailed video. I'm using this same edrum kit with EZ Drummer 3 - my rim shot only triggers the snare, like if I was hitting the center - and both tom 1 and 2 trigger the same tom 1 in ez drummer. Any idea how to route it so that I can trigger the rimshot and my 2nd tom?

in EZD3 go to Settings>E-drums, select the snare press mapping and setup the rim from there
