I'm a bit confused. I have the MVH-S310BT (European version, red backlight) and the app just doesn't seem to recognize the connection I have with the radio. Now I checked the manual again and I was a bit shocked when I read the smaller text saying that the app is not compatible with Apple Products? Is this really (still) the case? With an inconsistent re-connect, please be sure your phone is not connected to another device like a headset or a portable speaker. This can block the in-dash receiver from connecting. I recommend to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer MVH-S310BT. Does the wired connection play cleaner/better than Bluetooth?

Depending upon what the music source is, it may be cleaner through a wired connection to USB. And when you have the phone plugged in, you have the added benefit of charging the phone. I recommend to adjust the volume control on the phone when playing back through Bluetooth. Start with the phone's volume control set at about 30-40% and see of you are getting better sound quality through the receiver at different volume levels on the receiver. If this is working better slowly increase the volume on the phone to about 50% and test a little more. If it's still good, go to about 60%, and then 70%. At some point on your phone / receiver combination, you'll reach a point of noise coming from the phone or overloading the receiver's input. Back the phone's volume down a few percent for best sound quality. Just installed mine MVH-S310BT but I can't make it work with the Smart Sync APP on iPhone. It tries to connect but nothing happens. Installed latest firmware on both devices. Very disappointed. Also it is somehow different than the S310BT that is shown in the video: it has red backlight and no MIXTRAX logo and different button layout.

The video above is made for the North American market. The European version of the product is different that what is seen in the video. What iPhone do you have? What version of iOS is installed on the phone? Restart your phone. Are you attempting to make a wired or a Wireless connection to the in-dash receiver with the Smart Sync app? Did you choose that type of connection in the System Menu on the in-dash receiver? If you want a wireless connection, did you pair your phone to the in-dash receiver through Bluetooth before trying the Smart Sync app connection? Begin the update from the in-dash receiver. If there is a firmware update for your particular in-dash receiver you'll need to download it from Pioneer's web site. For an older iPhone I recommend to use the wired connection to listen to music through the in-dash receiver. This will also charge your phone when it's plugged in. Depending upon the model number of your in-dash receiver, you will need to press the SRC button to get to the iPhone/iPod source, when the phone is plugged in. You can also use the Bluetooth Audio Source if you want. For better sound quality you might consider playing music stored on a USB flash drive. You can play high quality audio files through USB. The overall design is very similar, however, Pioneer MVH-S310BT is a North American design in-dash receiver. Pioneer MVH-S410BT is a European design model. Pioneer in-dash receivers output Bluetooth Phone Call audio to the FRONT speaker outputs and FRONT RCA outputs only. Bluetooth Audio, or music played from your phone, will play through all outputs, both front and rear. Your in-dash receiver may be installed incorrectly. There is an easy way to test it. No. The Pioneer Smart Sync App does not work with the Pioneer DEH-X5900BT. A different option may be the Pioneer ARC app. As of 2021 May, the Pioneer ARC app works with iPhone 5 to iPhone X, and selected Android based phones. The Pioneer ARC App is compatible with selected Android phones operating the Android OS version 4.1 up to 7.1.2. The phone must also support AOA (Android Open Accessory) version 2.0. Ultimately the compatibility depends upon the individual smartphone. Please note, some Android based devices will connect via AOA 2.0 but may not work properly or emit sounds due to the phones software design regardless of the OS version. Please explain the issue a little more clearly. Is it like you hear the turn signal? Or are you hearing the turn signal? This is not normal operation for a Pioneer in-dash receiver. This type of electronic noise, or alternator noise, is usually associated with a poor ground connection for the in-dash receiver. Please return the vehicle to the installer and demonstrate the issue or check the wiring. The Black wire needs a good ground connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. I recommend to restart your phone. Delete the Pioneer Smart Sync App from the phone, and the re-install the app from the app store. Delete the phone from the in-dash receiver's Bluetooth Memory. And delete the in-dash receiver from the Phone's Bluetooth memory. Now begin the phone pairing process from the beginning. I just figured it out. I looked deep inside the manual that came with the stereo, DEH-S31BT in my case, and found that it doesn't support apple devices at all.

The Pioneer Smart Sync app works with iPhone in Europe and in North America. iPhone 5 or newer with iOS 10.3 or newer is required for operation. iOS 13 is recommended for more modern iPhones. This is very likely an installation issue. Here are a few possibilities: First, how many speakers are connected to the in-dash receiver? Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to operate up to 4 speakers in the vehicle. 2 in the front of the vehicle, and 2 in the back of the vehicle. You can't just attach as many speakers as you want. This will lower the impedance shown to the receiver's internal amplifier and cause it to overheat and shut down. If you are attempting to operate more than 4 speakers, this could cause the receiver to protect itself from damage at higher volume levels. A 2nd possibility is a speaker wire is touching metal somewhere in the vehicle. Possibly behind the in-dash receiver, or in a door behind the speaker or some other location. This can also cause the receiver to protect itself from damage at higher volume levels. A 3rd possibility could also be simply a poor connection for one of the Power or Ground wires on your in-dash receiver. @@pioneerelectronics I have the deh-s31bt. It has everything on the radio settings shown on this video. I’ll have to update the radio firmware that’s the last thing I can think of. Because everything else is the same as the video. It just won’t connect to my phone. (Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max)

This can block the in-dash receiver from connecting. Also, please be sure your in-dash receiver is not connected to another phone. This will also block the receiver from connecting to your phone. I recommend to delete the Pioneer in-dash receiver from your phone’s Bluetooth memory. Next, power your phone off and back on. Make sure your phone has the Bluetooth switched on and make sure your phone is NOT actively connected to other Bluetooth devices like a headset or a portable speaker. This may block in the in dash receiver from connecting to the phone. Next, I recommend to delete all phones from the in-dash receiver’s Bluetooth memory and restart the vehicle. Next begin the phone pairing process. Open the Bluetooth window on your phone. Make sure Bluetooth is switched on. Keep the phone’s Bluetooth window open. This will make the phone visible to other Bluetooth devices. Make sure no other phones are actively connected to the in dash receiver when you attempt to pair a new phone. On the in dash receiver, make sure Bluetooth visibility is switched on. For the Pioneer Smart Sync App, I recommend to delete the app from your phone. Then download and install a fresh copy of the app to your phone.
