I have a AVH-X8850BT. I have an Elephone S7 and a Bluboo S1A smartphone. neither Pioneer Smart Sync or AppRadioLive work with these phones: the head unit simply doesn't recognize th smartphone, whether with USB cable or Bluetooth. Can you help?

The Pioneer Smart Sync App is not designed to work with the Pioneer AVH-X8850BT. The Smart Sync App is never going to work with this receiver. For AppRadio Live please be sure to install the latest firmware for the Pioneer AVH-X8850BT. Please be sure to have the Pioneer AppRadio app installed on the phone, and the Pioneer AppRadio Live App. On the receiver in the SmartPhone set up area, be sure to select "Others" in the Device type. and AppRadio in the application area. Please be sure the cable you are using is capable of carrying data. Just because the cable will charge the phone doesn't mean it can carry data. Hello I have in issue with my MVH-S512BS bluetooth connection, my Note8 is the only one paired with it. So, each time I use my car I have to pair it, it is listed in my devices on my phone and bluetooth is enabled. Problem is it does not auto connect. I tried another note 8 and its the same issue, is there something faulty on the receiver?

First, please be sure your phone is not connected to another device like a headset or portable speaker. This can block the in-dash receiver from connecting. On the in-dash receiver, please check 2 settings in the Bluetooth Menu. Be sure Auto Connect is set to ON and be sure Visibility is set to ON. You can see these setting on a similar Pioneer receiver in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH3Omqynl76feKM If this does not correct the issue, I recommend to delete the in-dash receiver from the phone's Bluetooth Memory and to Restart the phone. Next delete all phones from in-dash receiver's Bluetooth Memory. Next press the microprocessor reset button on the in-dash receiver. You'll need a paper clip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button behind the detachable face near the center of the receiver on Pioneer MVH-S512BS. Next do a System Reset. You can find the System Reset function in the Initial Menu. I have the mvh-s522bs and samsung s20 fe. Smart sync is not connecting. I connected bluetooth successfully with the same pascode. The app setting on the head unit is set to bluetooth. Smart sync shows waiting to connect in my phones notifications but nothing I've done has gotten it to connect. Using the app I can search for device but none of the devices listed is the mvhs522bs. Any ideas?

I recommend to press the receiver's microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. If the app does not automatically connect, press and hold the in-dash receiver's volume control for a few seconds. This should force the app to connect. Please how do I control my original iPod from the stereo? All I can do is skip songs via the Track buttons. The "best" ? That's sort of an open question. There may be more than one view of the best. And the best may not be the easiest. The quick easy answer is CD. However, CD's have to be treaded somewhat carefully in the car, or they can become damaged. I like to use a USB source in the car. I can rip my CD's to FLAC or WAVE files and they play back in the car with the same audio quality at the original CD. I don't recommend MP3. It's a lossy format. Pioneer receivers play FLAC, and WAV file formats. Usually much better than MP3. Not everyone plays CD's in 2020. When i connect my radio through usb, app launches fine, it displays my music, but the sound comes over the phone, not the car's speakers. It works fine via bluetooth. When using an Android based phone with the Pioneer Smart Sync app, I recommend to use the Bluetooth connection and not the USB connection type. The cable type does not matter. If you want to charge your phone through the receiver's USB port while using the Bluetooth connection type for the Pioneer Smart Sync app, I recommend to change the USB Auto setting to Off. MTP is used to playback music that is stored on the phone's internal memory or, on selected phones, the phone's external memory card. I have DEH-S310BT player. Bluetooth icon is appearing on player screen. Smart Sync android app 2.7.0 does not start automatically, and does not find bluetooth device (smartphone). However, I can answer calls and pair device, its just that damn app that don't work. If press navigation button, it does not start google maps.

I just set this up. The first time I used Google maps, once I had made it to my location I turned maps off but then my music folder started playing over the top of the radio. Is this a known bug? I did a search for online support but couldn't find anything.

This happens with certain phones with different combinations of Android Version and installed apps. I am not aware of a fix for it as of 2019 January. I recommend this work around for now: 1. Switch the in dash receiver source to the music app. This will switch off the AM/FM Radio. Or the other way, switch the App to the AM/FM Radio Source. 2. Go to the app on the phone and touch pause. For future updates, please keep your in-dash receiver firmware up to date here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ and keep the most recent version of the app installed. No, that's incorrect. The Pioneer Smart Sync App is not required in any way to operate the receiver. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? You can usually find the model number on the face of the receiver near one of the corners. The Smart Sync app can be used as a remote control to operate the in-dash receiver and can make things easier to use for some people, it however, is not needed to operate any part of the receiver. I'm not sure what your question means. Do you mean you can't connect to the Smart Sync App via Bluetooth even though your phone is already connected to the in-dash receiver via Bluetooth? If so, be sure to select the System Menu>App Control>Bluetooth as shown in the video above. Then press and hold the volume control for a few seconds as shown in the video above. If this does not connect, quit all apps on the phone. Start the Pioneer Smart Sync App on your phone, then press and hold the volume control on the in-dash receiver for a few seconds to connect. If you mean you cannot connect your phone to the in-dash receiver via Bluetooth, make sure your phone is not connected to any other devices, like a head set or portable speaker. Make sure the in-dash receiver is not connected to any other phones. Open the Bluetooth screen on your phone and search for the in-dash receiver. If your clock, and radio station presets, reset each time you start your vehicle, you may have the in-dash receiver wired incorrectly. Focus on the in-dash receiver's Yellow Wire and Red Wire. The Yellow wire should have constant power from the vehicle even when the vehicle is off. This keeps the clock, and other functions stored in memory. Do not wire Red and Yellow together. Pioneer, this is just stupid. Sound in mine is good, but even my cheap headphones play music easily, no special apps and no set up every time. The same in a rental car and my son,s cheaper after market; in those, I don’t need apps or many menu’s to setup audio. If the phone connects, It should just play music through the stereo.
