I will usually set the mixer's main out at the "0" level (just below max) and then adjust the volume on the receiver to how loud I want it. After that I only use the mixer controls to adjust the main and channel volumes.

I have a 1/4” plug and it doesn’t seem to be working but I also just purchased xlr to rca for the main outputs as the controller outputs doesn’t seem to be working for me so I can’t tell what’s not working. When I tap the mic, it’s lighting up but no output to my receiver/speakers.

NoInjuryTime with his particular mixer you have 3 choices. The main output (to the AV) and you can use Alt 3-4 or the control room outputs to monitors using 1/4" male cables

Your video cleary shows the rca in and rca out connectors right on the mixer. Why not use those for output to the receiver, with plain rca audio cables?

Jerry Spicklemire those are the 2 track/usb i/o's. Technically you can connect that output to the receiver but the volume control is not from the main mix. Also, if you want to record the performance you will need that output since that is what it is mainly designed for. It goes to the recorder. Of note, if you use the usb interface to record on your computer, the rca i/o's do not work at all.

Hello sir . I just found your video while I was looking for info on mixers on google. You seem very knowledgeable so I have a question that I hope you can answers. I have two different pairs of active speakers, one is the Kali in 8 and the other is the Edifier s3000pro. One have xlr balance inputs the other have RCA. Ok the question is. Can I use a mixer to connect both pairs at once so the same audio plays in all the speakers? For example TV audio or streaming devices or also a turn table. I'd like to set up KZbin karaoke, which requires that I select HDMI on my receiver. Since your instructions require me to select CD on my receiver, how do I get the mic mix from the CD input and the video from the HDMI input at the same time?

Tom Doan connecting to the CD is just a suggestion. You can connect to any input on the receiver. Connecting the HDMI would take another video. Basically you need a separate audio source from the HDMI and connect that to a channel on the mixer.

the mixer should go into one any of the inputs on the mixer except phono. Turntables use a different type of line which also means you can not plug the turntables directly into this mixer. You will need a DJ mixer with phono inputs or a preamplifier between the turntables and the line inputs in this mixer.

Slightly off topic but, I want to run my TC Helicon mic mechanic through my Behringer 1622 Xenyx mixer and then into my Harbinger Vari v2215 powered speaker. I usually just run the mic mechanic into the powered speaker but I'd like to be able to take advantage of the mixers fx bank while still utilizing the mic mechanics pitch correction function...but, for some reason I just cannot seem to figure out how to hook it up.

Malcolm Richardson if you want to use the mixer for dvd or blu ray you need to connect the sound output of these devices to the mixer, not to the receiver. You then would use hdmi for video only. Not all devices are able to use sound and video output at the same time.

Do you mean input sound from the receiver? Not sure you can do both since the receiver will play any output through the speakers. You would need an external sound source going directly to the mixer then it will play through the receiver and speakers. For example, if you have a cassette deck, you would have to disconnect it from the receiver then connect it directly to one of the channels on the mixer. You would need RCA to 1/4" cables to do it.

What are you running KZbin on? If running on a PC or laptop you would have to run an HDMI cable from the computer directly to the TV. There is no way to do it that I know of from a tablet.

It really should sound similar with the mixer. Make sure the mixer settings and built in equalizer are correct. I have not had any problems with bass loss when using the mixer.

you have to use the headphone jack on the laptop with an adapter cable to 1/4" plugs into one of the channels on the mixer. You will have to change the HDMI settings on the laptop to play sound through the headphone jack instead of the HDMI cable.

Hi, I'm using a PMX466 Pyle Mixer that has XLR main out puts. I connect the XLR cable to RCA in my danon receiver using the CD RCA IN but even after changing the source to CD in my receiver I have no sound. I connect a wireless microphones into the mixer as well using XLR cables and when I speak I see that the sound is getting in but not hear anything in my receiver. I have HDMI attach to my receiver as well my RCA from the TV.

It depends on your mixer. Some mixers do have RCA outputs but most use either 1/4' or XLR outputs and it is best to buy the correct cable for your mixer's main sound output.

Hi Tony thank you for the video. I tried everything to make my mixer Alto L-8 work with my AV Receiver Sony . Nothing works I did you did , but no sound. There doesn't seem to be enough video description here of how this all looks when it's set up because all this video seems to show is what leads go where. What it doesn’t show is or explain in visual terms is: 1) How is this linked to a sound player to send the signal into the Mixer? 2) How are these units used to link to in order record the Karaoke sound performance? 3) Is this linked to a video capture source, a TV, a Laptop, Tablet or such for sound plus video? There are lots of question people have here in KZbin and no matter where I go to look at options on 'What-does-what' there never quite seems to be a definitive solution shown within such video's. These instructionals are alright *if* you have some kind of knowledge of the topic itself, but for someone setting up a first-time stand-alone karaoke system there's more to know than what's here. What I find the hardest is when everything is connected to the PC via a USB lead I've come across so many issues that crop up simply by running the 'Live' recording through Windows 10 system which can often be only the beginning of what turn out to be numerous problems which attracts so many people to comment on what went wrong for them and (more often than not) no real answers given. There is *nothing* wrong with this video as I watch it; I'm not dogging what you have done here. But the topic of creating a home karaoke system from any angle I view here in KZbin often becomes the beginning of problems that many don't understand from the very basic outset to problems that even the author of such video's don't seem to know the answer either. Thank you for sharing this video; I do understand what it covers, but (at least for me) it doesn't cover the project in its entirety and that's what a lot of people are looking for :-) ~F~

That's a LOT of information to put in one video. There are too many ways to set a mixer up and too many variables on what equipment people have. Most people will not watch a video for that long. I have other videos explaining other aspects of a karaoke setup.
