Thanks for this video! I couldn't figure it out and I needed to turn the power off the gopro and back on with the micro hdmi connected. it worked!

Do I need this original Media Mod or will this work fine with any USB-C -> HDMI adapter?

I'm basically wondering the same thing. I have a USBC to HDMI cable, and I plugged everything in, but it still says no signal. I even used the same cable to try and connect my Steam Deck to a monitor to mirror, and it didn't work either. I suspect maybe my cable just doesn't support this for whever reason??? Which makes no sence because it's HDMI on one end, but. Faulty product I guess? I have no other way to test it.

Two Options: the GoPro webcam software downloadable via their site, or the grab the Media Mod (which has the micro input. Maybe not ideal for your situation, but it’s the only way I’ve gotten it to work like this video. I hope it helps you, and thanks for watching!

Yeah, the Media Mod is really the only way I’ve been able to do this - or you may be able to find a solution by downloading the GoPro webcam software from their site. Thanks for watching!

@@Dealcasters #1 I tried googling "gopro webcam pc program" and coudn't find any downloads. #2 It's kinda bizarre to me that I would need to then spend even more additional money to get a "mod" (seperate product) for this to work. When the gopro itself could just have this capability. Ontop of that, the media mod is apparently just plugging into the USBC port on the gopro, and then it extends that to a micro hdmi port and another USBC port for charging. But if USBC already supports display connecting, I shoudn't need to convert USBC to micro hdmi, unless there is some BS voodoo magic going on in the side of that media mod that should be pointless. Technically still cheaper than just buying a DSLR, but this entire tech rabbit whole that's starting to feel like a gopro swindle, started because I got a gopro so I could take high quality photos while going to conventions. And you'd think that after spending a couple hundred dollars on this thing, that it could be used in the EXACT same way a DSLR could, as a webcam, without needing to throw additional money at a company that could just make the main product do the thing you want, because you KNOW it is 100% possible. Even though it would cost more money, I'd much rather buy a DSLR at this point and get way better webcam quality, than give 80 more dollars to gopro for what is affectively a "DLC". But it's apalling that I'd have to do this despite already having a perfectly fine camera.

Can i Power up the GoPro by using a USB Cable so it wont go off during long Streams, does it actually charge ? Btw thanks for the great Video ❤

Go pro does not output 4k. It only outputs 1080p over HDMI.

I actually fell for the clickbait and got all the equipment, only to be super disappointed as I didn't get 4k streaming.

I know right. These KZbinrs get paid to promote these kind of products with clickbaits and misinformation. Gotta learn the lesson man, I fell for that too.
