This is great! We rely on a wood stove to heat our home and live in a cold climate. The fire lowers our ambient humidity significantly and I see it playing out in our crested gecko's enclosure. I'm misting a lot more!

Thank you for this video! I struggle with keeping humidity in my cresties enclosure and never thought about covering the top. And recently ordered a new substrate to try for helping with it as well.
@staticsnow14 жыл бұрын
I think another tip can be to change or add an additional form of heating (as long as it's acceptable for the species you're keeping). For example, you can add a ceramic heat emitter (CHE) above an enclosure that needs to have its humidity decreased. Alternatively, you change from a heat bulb or CHE and instead use an under tank heater for an enclosure that needs to have it's humidity increased.

Thank you for all of your videos, they've been helpful for me and Duke-Leopard Gecko. Although all of a sudden when I put my digital thermometer on my warm side u noticed this morning Humidity was °80 Temperature was. °72. He's been eating every night and really only comes out at night ? Soo I turned out the light and took out the water dish & turned on the fan in dining room, turned on AC in living room. Hopefully everything will work out. I just want the best for him..TD ❤

i have 2 desert iguanas and during the day their humidity is fine its 25% on the cooler side so that means its probably like 20%-15% on the hotter side which is perfect… but during the night, the humidity rises and it gets to like 60% and i feel bad for them

I know. Me too, I had the digital thermometer outside of my 75 gal. Tank & it was reading °40% humidity. I put it inside the tank on my hot side and now it's reading °80% humidity ? I turned out the light & took out water dish,turned on AC,turned on fan. I'm totally confused if this doesn't work..

If I wanted to use aluminium foil to increase humidity do I cover the whole thing or have something a little bit open?

You want to leave a bit open for air flow but you can cover 50-75% of the lid

I was wondering if you were thinking of getting a urmastyx to your collection of reptiles. I hope so, because I have just got one and there is very little information of them out there or videos. I know that they only eat fresh veggies and like it very hot and dry. They are also a shy species. If so can you find out anything else or maybe get one to add to your reptile family. I and others would love that thanks. I love your channel. Have a great day!

For my Ball Python enclosure Im gonna buy one of the Humidity devices that can detect the humidity levels and can turn on/off the humidifier and the dehumidifer if it needs to but the heating is perfect but the humidity during the day drops below what it needs to be while at night its on the high side but over all my male has no disturbance or is extremely tolerable with the humidity cause he is still feeding and tongue flicking is still normal and usually if the environment isn't right the animal won't eat

@JessicasAnimalFriends3 жыл бұрын
yes, you will need to achieve a basking spot of 90 F. However, it sounds like your cool-end temp would be a challenge to achieve if your house is so warm.

My leopard gecko has a piece of shed stuck on his ear canal how may I remove this properly!!!!!!
@JessicasAnimalFriends2 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? Leos have a thin membrane structure to protect their ears. It’s clear and inside the ear canal, I just don’t want you to mistake that for shed and cause damage to your gecko. If there is indeed stuck shed (white skin rather than clear) try GENTLY removing it by the closest exposed part with a pair of dull ended tweezers and if your gecko won’t sit still be careful not to damage the ear

Hi Jessica for us Gecko keepers I just want to start by saying talk about mouth rot because a lot of ppl don’t know this in all the research I did they didn’t discus that because it’s very rare that it happens it’s primarily seen in snakes if the humidity is off a tiny bit during the change from winter to spring which I live in the desert and I've had my rescue since August of 2022 and she had been doing great weighed almost a 100 grams after I gotten her and my one vet said she was getting to fat and to back her off the food so I did it but then spring came and as a native born and raised in Las Vegas we really don’t have an in between but this past year weird things started happening now I’ve had many different reptiles over the course of legit 40 years but my gecko wasn’t c😅Ming out of her humidity box not eating wasn’t eating her shed and was pooping strange so I found a new vet in September because she had started shedding 3 times a month and still not eating so I’m like WTF so I found a bad ass of a vet and I mean she gets all A’s across the board and she says she has mouth rot I’m like oh 😮fudge so she kept her over night and got her fixed up now she is on meds for the next 10 days with a mouth rinse and eye drops because the infection was spreading but she thinks it was the humidity so their humidity box that they go in needs to be as if it is raining and needs to be between 40 an 80% humidity at all times or convert one side into area for the humidity side so I have to build her a bigger humidity box so I can put a misting tube and wrap it around on the inside of her humidity box and she said it needs to be wet but she she is a leopard Gecko white and yellow with the brown spots so these guy s are from the desert of afjagahstan and all the way to Asia so she said it would be wiser to keep her as humid as possible nothing over 90 but I thought I would bring this up but I know every vet will say different things but I thought I would bring this up
