Hola, thanks for the video. Got few questions: 1) voltage regulator- can it be replaced by transistor to amplifie? but then we need a second source, stronger, ahh i am confused. 2) do i understand correctly, from + wire comes higher current, and voltage regulater reduces current and unnecessary current goes straight to - while the current we need continues to go +? also, if so, then does it mean that unnecessary current, if it goes to - wire, then follows condensator and it goes to diode, there current gets smoother and smoother and it goes back to +? not an electrician. sorry. thanks for response.

if this is done then the dc is converted back to new ac pure sine wave we basically get a final clean ac output right? is this sort of thing possible to build? i know online ups does this but they can be very costly

I have 16Vac powering my DCC train set, using a full bridge to convert track power to drive led's, I some how got 16V DC out. When I was expecting to only get 8Vdc. Is there something I'm missing because of the source power being a digital 16Vac signal/power source

What is the reason to rectify and then make the current alternate through invertor ?
@eeapplications Жыл бұрын
For example, UPS's can be given as an example. It is converted to DC when there is electricity and stored in the batteries inside. Then, when there is a power outage, it is inverted back to AC and used.

i see the capacitor long leg (positive) connected to the negative side of the bridge. Is that correct?

No. Don't let the shape fool you. Of course, the long pin will be on the positive (+) part.

its confusing b/c how the transformer comes first before rectifier open and see on any charger a transformer comes after rectifier.
@techrama9642 Жыл бұрын
You are talking About Switching DC power supply. Where transformer used after rectification. This design is Linear DC supply which can handle 2amp or 10 Watt load maximum. And used for Singal Devices like radio, amplifier and other sound and signal receiving and generating devices because it doesn't produce any noise. Where Switching DC supply is noisey but handles much more load than above circuits. Linear efficiency is 60%. when you touch those MOSFET under load you can feel how hot they are. But in Switching circuit efficiency is 80% and barely heats.

Be carful if you plan on doing what's on this video because its showing you how to go from 220V which is the most dangerous voltage you can get at home. 220 is what Dryers, hot water tanks, furnaces, and ovens use. Be carful. Your fingertips will explode if you touch it

@deang56222 жыл бұрын
Let's get the terminology right shall we? It is not a filter circuit. The capacitor is not being used as a filter Filtering, supply decoupling, blocking, smoothing are all different applications of capacitors. The particular application here is smoothing not filtering.
@TheOzthewiz2 жыл бұрын
The cap IS filtering the 120cycle AC component (ripple) from the "pulsating DC" output of the bridge.
@Conenion2 жыл бұрын
It is a filter. Think of a low pass with R and C in series whilst R = 0 Ohms.

Can someone explains to me how AC and DC works and what the different.??😅
@kenmiles3211 ай бұрын
@motorsport4311 In an AC there is a forward and backward movement of current.To test this take your phone and shoot a slow mo video on a light bulb in your house. Now in a DC there won't be a backward movement of current it is always forward.For more info check out AC vs DC
@VladFredK Жыл бұрын
okay Mr electronics, maybe you can shine now and tell me why rectifiers have about 1/3 of AC voltage in still coming out ? Example - 120 volts coming IN to the rectifier will have 44 volts AC still coming OUT
@kenmiles3211 ай бұрын
There could be several reasons. A transformer suffers energy losses one of them could be a potential destroyer or culprit behind the debris of ac voltage .To know more on the energy losses just google it.Hope this helps
