I have to agree that Senegalese jollof rice is the best. 2 years ago, my husband and I went to a jollof festival in NYC. We had the opportunity to taste jollof rice from 20 different countries. Each Chef was the winner of their respective country. Senegalese did not win (they got 2nd place) but it was my favorite, and the favorite amongst my friends.

Love this dish. Took me years of trial and error to recreate after a KZbin video 😂 I had used palm oil and the “hoin” probably spelling that wrong 😂 But the crunchy part of the rice at the bottom of the pot is key for me! So delicious. Thanks for sharing 🥰

Jollof even the name come from Senegal. Jollof was an big empire before the modernity. Also this dish name is ceebou djeune ie Rice with fish. We have different other versions with meat, chicken even with dried sea food and every version has the white and the red one. We in Senegal take this dish very seriously, because that’s our National dish from the North to the South-West and Est. Also this famous became by his deliciousness a word Patrimony of UNESCO. Just an advice guys: don’t play with Ceebu Djeune Penda Mbaye name of its creator
