Oh, u poor baby, how exhausting. Get up & start all over again, only to add shopping to the list.

Similar way I cook my greens 🥬 except what I like to do is prepare the broth the night before by cooking the meat until it fall off the bone then the next day use the broth and poor it into a crock pot and put it on low for a few hours I use basic onion powder garlic powder and black pepper a dash of white pepper and Goya vegetable seasoning very tasty

I ALWAYS wonder WHY people don’t rinse the collard leaves prior to cutting them. It’s much easier to clean/rinse when the leaves are whole. Looks good.

vaphillips, that's the way my Mama taught me, many years ago. Plus, I give my sink a little extra cleaning, then use it to wash the greens, any greens, without using separate bowls. Fill one side with cold water. Wash the whole leaves. Fill the other side with cold water, while the first side is soaking a bit. Swish the greens around, lift a handfull & let drip. Put in the 2nd side of the sink. Drain the first side. Fill with fresh cold water. Using the same method, return the leaves to the 1st side. Repeat as often as is necessary for the greens. More for homegrown/picked and less for commercially available fresh greens. Last pass, toss the wet greens into the empty sink bowl (with strainer in place but not secured) to let them drain.Toss around a bit. In a few minutes they're ready to be processed for the pot. Bonus: More of the nutrition stays in the un-cut greens during the cleaning process. That green colored water is NUTRITION leaking out of all those cut/torn edges!!! Very little, if any green tinge in the water when cleaning whole leaves.
@blase410
@blase410 4 жыл бұрын
Cleaning the whole leaf before cutting them is the way my mother did it, and is the way I do it. We cleaned each leaf, front and back, by hand to make sure that there are no bugs, animal droppings, dirt, or worms. Believe you me, I have seen my share of worms and bugs that have made me jump out of my skin. People, please clean the leaves one by one with running water and a paper or cloth towel. After you have cleaned them that way, then roll up several leaves together and cut.

YES!!! THAT looks so freaking good!!! I never knew you could pre make the stock from turkey bones like that. I always make collards when I make a ham. But, I semi butcher part of the ham in the back & use it as my seasoning meat & throw it in the pot with my greens to cook together. (& I use a can or two of chicken broth when i need to replenish the liquid as they cook down) ~ but Lady, YOU can dang well out cook me so my hat is off to you. 🎩 awesome job
