I describe it just like it was any other dish. It's definitely in how you prepare it like anything else. Usually those people have given it a go once or twice and had a bad experience. But with chicken, beef or fish etc. I've had more than one bad experience when it wasn't prepared to my liking.

If your tofu doesn't taste like anything, boil it first with salt water and let it rest for a few hours you will get quite a delicious tofu (my favourite is fried and top with sweet soy sauce -that includes garlic, shallots and tomatoes, p.s : add lime juice if you want more acidity with your sauce). Eating it this way with rice is definitely the way to go🤤

I purchased my FIRST package of Tofu today! My Paratransit driver and I were sharing a conversation, and I mentioned changing my daily food menu to include Tofu. You all can imagine the look on her face in reaction when I said Tofu! Ha. I purchased two bricks, extra firm. I bought Diana Sauce to cover the Tofu in case I didn't like it. No worries. I opened one of the packages, cut a piece to eat right away. Excellent. I gave one of the two bottles of Diana Sauce to my roommate. I will never use it. I love Tofu just the way it is! I am converted to Tofu. Best wishes for healthy eating to Everyone in 2023!

I have dysphasia and have to eat soft, slippery, semi-solids, so tofu is the perfect food to me. I actually make it into a scrambled, without pressing the water out, and sauté it in a skillet same as yours, with a touch of butter/oil (I’m not strictly vegan I just don’t have the ability to eat a lot of meat and am lactose sensitive, but I use a little dairy like butter and eggs). My seasoning I use chicken seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and curry. About a teaspoon of everything but the curry powder which gets a full tablespoon. Then I cook until it looks like fluffy brown scrambled eggs at the texture I want. Put on a plate and serve it with House of Tsang Bangkok Peanut Sauce. It is the best,and despite its appearance to wet cat food it is actually delicious if you like those flavors and don’t care too much about presentation or texture. Or I’ll toss it into a jar of simmer sauce, and serve over jasmine or basmati rice.

@annalynn94497 жыл бұрын
i cut mine super thin, press it (one reason i feel pressing it is important is because it absorbs flavor a lot more when its pressed)...i then usually toss it with salt..soy sauce..and mustard. it really absorbs the flavor when you use liquid seasonings.
@jacknoonan91727 жыл бұрын
You need to marinate thinner slices in a sauce for a few hours or overnight. The tofu won't take in any of the flavours of the sauce using this chick's method, it's just coating the outside (the exact problem you're having/don't like). I made peanut/soy sauce flavoured tofu the other week... and oh my goodness, it was heavenly. Pressed the tofu and then marinated it for two hours before cooking... ahhhhh

Hi, new sub here, commenting to say A. Thank you for this vid, I've been wanting to go totally OF but am still learning how to do that w certain things, and tofu is one of them- I've rarely used it just as tofu, iykwim- like, I usually just use it to blend into mousses or puddings, or just as in ingredient in some other dish- I usually just use legumes as my "main." Plus I don't have a tofu press and I didn't want to be bothered w it, so learning I don't hafta do that is a game changer!! Also/B. I hope this ok to say (ik some ppl feel its taboo to comment on other ppls bodies, even in a positive way), but your midsection looks amazing, hella toned, and I'm jelly!!🤩 Thats where I tend to carry any extra weight I have & I can't stand it, its my biggest problem area.... But tbf I don't specifically work out (I just eat PBWF & walk a lot, but maybe I should throw in some like, specific stomach toning exercises, too. (But also the thought of specifically exercising for exercising's sake is like 👀💀 to me.😂🤷♀️)

i would still recommend pressing it for extra firmness but thats just my preference, i find even if i cook my tofu this way it can still be a bit more soggy than when i've pressed it.

Hmmm I'll have to try this. I'm fairly new to tofu and I've been cuting it into cubes and baking in the oven before using in stir fry. It looks a lot easier to just do the steaks in a pan

For a super chewy texture freeze the tofu over night then defrost it. Then you can squeeze all the water out of it just like a sponge, literally! Doing this will also allow the tofu to absorb sauces and marinades all the way through!

tofu for me is about marinating...good vid as always. good point about sugars in your sauces, that's where it gets tricky with marinade

Great video!! Props for not draining the water out for an hour. I don’t understand how people like their tofu that dry
