Last year a farmer showed how to SAFELY CUT that big blue grey Hubbard squash. He dropped it on concrete. Broke open and in useable sizes. Worked out great! I dropped mine on Butcher paper . Baked it at 350 for 30 to 45 min. depending on chunk sizes. And, Delicata has an edible skin if you cut in rings and line up in pan. Butter when soft and then "play" with your spices to change flavors. Aloha Mahalo!🌺

I've never had winter squash. I see them in the grocery store, but never buy them because I wouldn't know what to do with them. So, I am very grateful for this video. I hope you ladies will do some cooking with squash videos too.

What an excellent video! I very rarely, if ever, cook squash and so I found this very educational. From now on I will be cooking a lot more squash as I really love this vegetable. Many thanks for putting this video up on KZbin.xxx

Last year I tried and ate so many pumpkins. Some were sweeter and creamier than others .The green sorta flat ones have a very creamy and yellow flesh .I even tried one of the small white ones and it's flesh had the same texture as coconut. I added some coconut oil and some coconut flavoring and it was so close to coconut that it would fool someone who didn't know better .. I got my first pumpkin today . Green and pink ,should be really good .

Very informative. Now I feel more confident in cooking the various types of squash. Thank you! I just cooked and ate delicata squash. My first time preparing it myself, with butter salt and pepper. Delicious. I ate the skin, too.

This Spring and Summer (2019), I allowed my garden to go fallow in order to give Mother Nature a rest and to give back to Her (i.e., nourish the soil). Lo and behold, what comes back from previous years? Summer squash and pumpkins! I didn't do a darn thing this year in my garden and still reaped a harvest. It just goes to show you when you are good to the Earth, She will be good back to you. Thank you for this informative video on all the characteristics of the various squashes.

We threw some of a sugar pumpkin away last year in a bin of dirt we had and some moles did get to them and ate some but we moved we just put it in a different box and we just harvested one sugar pumpkin from it. Was very surprised to get a sugar pumpkin from something we didn't even mean to grown again.

Great info, but why "the pilgrims"? I recall there were other people living here too. Seems ... weird to focus on pilgrims when this is not a "Thanksgiving" video.

If you are going to mash the squash, my suggestion is that you air pressure cook it. Takes much less time than cooking in the oven and it comes out perfect.

Great video - lovely to see the interiors of each squash. That huge banana squash is just a hefalump of a thing - bit too big to grow at home. You'd struggle to eat it all before it started to go bad.
